Great lens, only one critique
Arguably one of the greatest lenses to get. Very versatile, excellent image, and very well built. If you’re shooting video, the autofocus can almost be too quick - resulting in the focus jumping around a bit. Still a phenomenal lens.

A fantastic lens!
This lens is a perfect fit for my A7CR - fast, optically fantastic, lightweight (relatively speaking), well-built, and compact. So sharp it is ridiculous. Autofocus is spot on and very fast paired with the aforementioned camera. This was the first lens I purchased with my recent camera equipment refresh cycle and would likely be my choice if I had only one lens. The fast aperture allows very low light work and the lens performs so well wide open. Also, since it is a first party lens, it works with Sony's lens breathing compensation, which is available on newer Sony bodies during video shooting. Highly recommended!

Perfect lens for portraits and environments
Perfect for photographing groups and environments. The size is perfect and focus is quick and snappy. It can be stored easily and the material finish protects it from scratches.

great lens for the price
Let me say this, I don't like spending much money. But ive decided to pick up photography as a new recent hobby and after upgrading from a iPhone 11 Pro. I purchased a Sony a7c and this lens. coming from someone that knows absolutely nothing about these types of cameras and settings. I was a bit afraid spending this much Money to get into the hobby ( I don't enjoy upgrading once I get use to something so I decided to go all out at first). first off this lens is AMAZING. Focus is amazing, weight is amazing. it is a great lens for everything I throw at it. I mostly take car photography and street. After taking a few hours watching videos on this lens and how to use it. ive taken some great pictures. I lent my setup to my buddy that takes pictures professionally and he was blown away by its performance. Great lens. Don't worry about the price. You will not regret your purchase one bit. Edit: After almost 2 years with this lens, It is still my #1 lens. Every photo I have ever taken with it looks AMAZING. Super fast auto fucus on my m a7R V. Ive used it in hard rain, snow, mud, and 110 degree conditions and its never failed. If you are looking for a 35mm lens... This is the one.

Awesome Lens for Walkaround
This lens is amazing for portrait as well as general carry and shoot lens. It is a bit expensive, but gives you tons of excellent photos. The latter is priceless! I always put into Auto focus, and shoot, and photos come out just right. It's simple to use with my Sony A7iii camera.

it’s a top choice
Great combination of size / weight / image quality. I also think it just has a nice design. While I will say that the image quality is spectacular, it depends what you’re used to. My Leica APO Summicron glass legitimately blows this away, but the price differences make them non-comparable. If I had to critique it from the actual best FF 35mm in the world: - the transition area just outside the DoF looks a more like some sort of optical aberration rather than simply going out of focus - mild CA and softness visible wide open at closer ranges - mild CA in high contrast areas (think tree branches) at larger apertures - I wish it had deeper micro contrast Honestly, none of this really matters. This is what you’ll find if you go pixel peeping, which I know a lot of users of this lens will do. Ultimately, if you make any photos with this you don’t love, it will never be the lens’s fault. (Also yes I’ve seen the DXO reviews and have no idea what they’re smoki… er, doing. I currently own both lenses along with an A7RIVa and SL2, sitting in front of me, and have tested them back and forth. Multiple copies of the Leica prove consistent.)

Perfect lenses for my video logs
While G-Master lenses have a high price tag, I never get disappointed with them. I was very impressed with the lens performance under low light and the 35mm was a nice fit for my use case, which is to record video logs. I haven't used it for other scenarios, like street photography. However, it's compact enough that I may use it for that in the future.

Brilliant lens. Context: I also own a 50mm 1.4 GM lens, great lens. I do paid work to photograph venues and events and both of these lenses do the job very well given a lot of these venues are in low light. Why I needed this 35mm was to capture the environment more. Many situations made the 50mm a bit tight and found myself with my back up against the wall to capture the moments. Both of these lenses do well with a photographer who capture pictures that tell a story. A picture is worth a thousand words after all. This is where the 35mm really shines. It's a story telling focal length and in the right hands, it will do that job very well. If I had to do it all over, I'd pick the 35mm first and gauge if a 50mm is needed. Which from what I see I don't think I need anymore and may sell the 50mm.
