Wow a smart lock for such a great price!!!
The media could not be loaded. Why the T Guard - We currently have a Nest Yale X lock that this unit is replacing and given the price this seemed to be an extremely good value and of course it’s HomeKit compatibleBuild Quality - Coming from the Yale X I was concerned about build quality at such a low price on the T Guard. It is solid and finish is tight, it looks good on the door. The exterior part is especially well designed and put together. The key portion of the lock looks less sturdy than a kwikset or Yale key lockThe dead bolt didn’t look as robust as my old Yale X. Movement of the lock is fast, much faster than the Yale X. When you put your code in, the dead bolt moves fast and precise. The unit comes with two additional lock sensors. The sensors tell the unit when the unit has been unlocked or locked. However, no where in the documentation could I find what they were? I had to take the unit apart, actually apart to find out what they were. I have mixed emotions about them including these.1. It’s nice that they would provide them for you.2. But why would you need them? My old Yale X was installed over 3 years ago and I have never even considered needing to replace a sensor on it. Does this mean that the sensors are cheap and will go out, and that’s why they provided them? The touch panel has a really nice touch in that it has a rubber gasket between it and the door. My old lock left a mark on my door as it did not have this. The gasket also reassures someone that it is weather tight.Installation is easy and the entire process took me less than 20 minutes, with the exception of adding codes for my family. For my installation all I needed was Phillips screwdriver. The unit comes with everything you need to install. Something that is small but I like is the mounting plate come screwed the device, but they give you an extra screw incase you didn’t think to keep the one when you remove the plate. It doesn’t sound like much, but to often today manufacturers are so cheep they don’t think of these things. The unit comes with striker plates for both sides, and is adjustable for different door depths. The installation instructions are well written and have great pictures to follow. I really didn’t need to read anything other than view the diagrams.UseabilityYou can technically add the lock to HomeKit without the Vocolinc app, but you really need it to add codes for your family. Also its required for firmware updates.I really like HK accessories that do not require an app to use, but the Vocolinc has something that I really appreciate. The app has a privacy mode, that only works locally with the device. It does not send data about the device up the cloud, this allows you to keep it in HK while adding settings. I never had to create and account or provide my information to use it. BRAVO Vocolinc! One great feature of the lock is the ability to have scheduled codes for access only during certain times. So if you have someone like a maid or nanny who comes, they can access the home only during the times you set. To add codes and make changes to settings its really easy to access, with my old lock you had to dig into the Nest app to change things.

Works great. Highly recommended.
Pretty happy with the lock so far. Install was easy enough following the instructions. It has a plate that has to be installed that the rest of the lock is attached to which was different than previous locks I have installed. I had to use the included insert for the door as the one inside my door was too small for this setup. Fortunately this lock included EVERYTHING you would need even if you were starting with a new door with no hardware installed so you will have what you need no matter what.Only downside is this lock is BIG. But it still looks nice in the door even though it’s huge.Setup in the app was seamless and took seconds. I was able to set up my passcode to unlock and add it to HomeKit with complete ease. Has quite a few options. Auto lock, temporary codes etc as well as any HomeKit automations you use. I showed my kids how to unlock with the passcode and they all had it mastered in a minute. I love that the key pad is build in and not a separate unit like the lockI replaced. One less part to fail and one less set of batteries to manage. All in all I highly recommend. It’s a great lock.Really glad I purchased.

Easy to install with plenty of features!
The media could not be loaded. Purchased this so that I could add a smart lock feature to my outside garage door. In my case I already had a deadbolt there, so did not have to do any drilling. Just remove the old and install the T Guard. As a word of caution, you should really read the directions a few times before starting the installation. There are some steps that would have saved me time, not having to go back and fix a step. The big one is position of the pin (it NEEEDS to be vertical) before inserting the inside portion. What happened was it could not open/lock when you turned the mechanical side. This was in the directions, but I did not see it clearly enough. So what does this lock have? The big one for me is that it let's you assign multiple user codes that can be typed in. If you have a friend or contractor that is coming you can set a date and time, once or multiple uses, all with the ease of the app on the iphone. Also since it is Homekit compatible you can just ask Siri to lock or unlock. It is super easy to add it to Homekit, as you probably know, all you do is scan the barcode, the rest is done for you. So one problem I am having, is that the range of the Bluetooth is not super strong. But I will update this, talking with the manufacture and they are troubleshooting. I will update this review when I find out what is causing it. This lock only works on Bluetooth not WIFI. So either your phone needs to be in range or an Apple TV/Homepod for it to always be accessible. For me this is not super important, because I always have my phone with me, but if you did not, then it is not Homekit accessible.I will say the response of the keypad is great. And it works quite fast as you type in the code. I think for the price the overall quality and feel is above what I would have expected. All in all I am happy so far, especially if I can get the bluetooth range improved with a software update?
