Small but Powerful Magnets
I don't know what I was thinking, but in the pictures, I somehow thought these were pretty large -- like a couple of inches! LOL! No...they're only about 1-inch in diameter. However! They're quite powerful little magnets! When they arrived, I right away tested them on my sous vide bin. I'm using a Rubbermaid Commercial Products 8-quart container I bought here on Amazon. The sides are plexiglass, and about 1/8 inch thick --- common for these types of bins. The magnets have no trouble, and make a pretty tight connection. What I wanted was a way to keep the tops of the bags just above the surface of the water. I'd thought of magnets, but worried about them being submerged. These are coated with some sort of rubber type material, so the actual magnet is protected. Just what I wanted. (I've been using binder clips around the top of the bin -- annoying.) These work great! I can put in my bag, and put one magnet inside the bin over the sides of the bag (I'm using Zip Loc 1-gallon Freezer Bags). The other magnet goes outside the bin, and grabs the inside one. And they make a decent clamp that keeps the bag where I want it to be. Cool idea, and very nice product. I wouldn't be surprised if these are made from neodymium (rare earth mineral) like those used in electronics. Even with the two sides of a bag between them, then the wall of the container, these are strong enough to support the bag easily. I haven't tried it yet, but even if the bottom of the bag isn't resting on the bottom of the container, I'll bet the magnets will suspend the bag in the water. I tend to just rest them on the bottom of the bin, but sometimes the bags will want to float a little, depending on what I'm cooking. The only trick-bag is that I often cook at about 138-F degrees, which is pretty hot. I'm not reaching into that water to place or move a magnet around! But the rubber-ish coating isn't slippery, so I can use a pair of tongs easily.

Magnets that will SAVe YOU from ruining your meal.
Throw these magnets in the bag, stick a few on the outside of the container, and you’re good to go. Super simple, super effective. Makes sous vide cooking way easier and more consistent. Highly recommend for anyone tired of dealing with those annoying floating bags and ruined meals.

handy
I read the review and I've used my magnets (4=2 pair) six or seven times. They have worked great to hold small bags submerged. You can use one magnet to help retrieve bag after cooking by leading the magnet and bag up side of the container. I have had no issue with the magnets loosing strength or the coating flaking as I saw in a negative review. I am happy with my purchase. If you are sous vide cooking for one or two persons they magnets offer a flexible alternative.

work well and not huge
I have a set of weights that work but are bulky and I feel like a lot of my marinade ends up around the weights instead of what I'm cooking. These are very small but powerful magnets that keep everything submerged but don't take up a lot of space. Will only work if you use a metal pan for your sous vide.

Very Heavy Duty Magnets!
I needed really good magnets to use with my sous vide. Basically you have to submerge your food in water that the sous vide heats to certain temperature to cook. Food has to be completely submerged in bag. I use a steel soup pot so I needed magnets to help keep food submerged. I had some heavy duty non-coated magnets which worked but were slowly dissolving the ones placed inside the water. The problem with most magnets is they are usually fairly weak. I needed something truly heavy duty with a coating that wouldn't dissolve in heated water. Ta Da! I found these on Amazon. They have a silicone coating, about as round as a quarter and perfect strength for holding the submerged food. Try them and you won't be sorry!

These Magnets are the BOMB!
Wish I'd known about these a long time ago. Can't tell you how often I've poked a hole in the pouch using things to hold the pouch down in the water, spilled water, spilled hot water on myself all in the elusive efforts to keep the pouch from floating to the top. But I have the magnets NOW! Color me happy. They're very powerful and do the job. Just did a giant lamb shank and it laid on the bottom of the container the entire 48 hours!

Works, depends on container
If you have a food grade storage container it may be too thick for these magnets to work well for sous vide. I like these for the size, could be stronger to work with thicker plastic containers.
