Test Buddy Pet Blood Glucose Meter Kit for Dogs and Cats

I only just received this product and have used it twice now but I’m loving it! It reminds me a lot of the Truemetrix human brand so the setup was easy to do for me since I’ve had a lot of experience with the human glucometer.I have to give me deepest, sincerest thanks to the company that rolled out this product. Much like my human meter, it has an app with a log book that you can view trends over time. It’s everything and more that I was hoping for. Plus the kit and subsequent testing strips that you’ll need to buy don’t make my wallet cry. It’s cost-efficient and seems like a really solid system.I’m really liking it so far. The only word of caution is for new-to-testing animals. It’s hard to get a good sample for testing starting out and this device does require a healthy sample. Maybe stick to the alphatrak glucometer when starting out so you don’t waste testing strips and potentially stress out the furbabies. But once your furbaby’s ear/paw “learns to bleed,” absolutely switch over! This product is a dream.

This product when trying to draw blood to test strip always throws an error on Glucometer. The strip design is poor for use on an animal. You have to point it straight down to get it to accept the blood and then it doesn’t take enough blood.The lancer has to be set on 5 in order to puntcture and draw blood. Had to poke my poor cat 3-4 times before I had figured this out and then still not deep enough to get enough blood. In the mean my Cat got irritated w me (rightfully so).It’s not Pet friendly. It’s not worth the money paid for the hassle you have to go through and then find out that it requires more effort than it should to test the animals sugar. Maybe it works better w Dogs but definitely not good for Cats. Try something else. The lancer is also difficult to open In order to replace the lancet.

As I have never used a glucose meter before I had to fumble through the instructions and figure it out. Luckily there are videos and a customer service number too! I think the hardest part was using the lancet and figuring out the depth you need to get enough blood to sample. I bought this for our senior diabetic cat I tried her paw a couple times on different settings with the lancet and it wasn't enough blood then I tried her ear that didn't work and so I went all the way up to five for her paw and it was perfect. Luckily she's a laid-back cat otherwise she probably would have attacked me LOL. I wish I would have bought one of these meters sooner cuz her vet did not recommend her be tested at all and I thought the poor Kitty was done for but luckily I found a new vet who knew what they were doing and now she is up and walking around after some fluids. Anybody reading this if your cat or dog is diagnosed with diabetes buy a meter ASAP. Its the only way to monitor their blood sugar and the numbers will tell you if you should or shouldn't administer insulin. I wish there was a container for the lancets!

I had a heck of a time getting it set up. Instructions are not very clear. Wasted about 5 strips with error messages because apparently I didn't have the pet setting chosen. Couldn't get it to connect to Bluetooth because I didn't have my phone GPS turned on. As far as accuracy, it was only about 10 points difference between this and the Relion Compact I'd been using. I read all this stuff about how "off" human meters are for pets, so I bought this expecting a huge difference. Either the difference isn't that big and it's more of a sales gimmick than anything, or the TestBuddy is way off as well. Once you get this set up and learn its quirks, it works well and the app is nice. Would rather have a .3 sample size like AlphaTrak, but the test strips are way too expensive. I will probably use this and the Relion as backup (Relion has test strips at half the cost of these).

I just got my Test Buddy and since I'm new to this whole testing procedure, there are only 10 lancets and 50 test strips in the $42.00 bundle kit. You cannot reuse the lancets so why only give 7? You need at least 50 lancets to match the 50 test strips. This company only sells 100 lancets with 100 test strips for an additional $45.00. Just getting you to spend more money for unsuspecting buyers. So don't buy Test Buddy for $45, buy the other one for $67 so you can get 100 test strips and lancets. It’s a pretty good tester. I’ve never had to test for blood sugar before this, but it easy to get the blood and the meter is easy to use. I like that it keeps a log. This thing literally saved my cats life I immediately changed her diet to a high protein diet after testing her. She started at 400 now I’ve managed to keep her at 300 or less, even all the way down to 150 🙌

Inaccurate, confusing, not worth it. what the actual f. it goes from 140 to 280 from the same reading. going back and forth. with the same units. what is that? was her glucose 140 or 280?! her glucose has never even read 280 before so it’s not an old reading. my cat is freshly diagnosed with diabetes and needs accuracy. their support DOESNT ANSWER. contacted them for bluetooth errors TWO 1/2 WEEKS AGO! the lancet device PIERCED HER EAR! The bluetooth never works! i bought this device for the bluetooth feature to show my vet!!!!!! How horrible. horrible device. horribly inconvenient and not trustworthy. I’ve taken phlebotomy classes so i know how you glucometers and lancet devices work. they should be ashamed of their product and ashamed of their costumer support. I pulled out my human meter also made by trividia health and got complete different results. The human one is supposed to show higher results. not lower. for such a well known company, you’d expect better. it’s time we treat our companions with the same level as care as we would humans. do better trividia health.
