gives nebulae more contrast and more shape
This UHC filter does its job at making nebulae have more contrast and more shape. This filter works with emission and planetary nebulae. It makes nebulae have about 30% more contrast. It is especially effective on the orion nebula and even bette on the M27 Dumbell nebula. The below reviewers clearly do not know how lpr filters work. It will not eliminate light pollution, just lessen the effect of it. I use this on my Orion XT10i Dobsonian (10 inch aperture). The uhc filter is more well rounded than an OIII filter. It is actually $20 cheaper on Amazon than on Celestrons own website.

Great Filter for City Dwellers
This is a great filter. I've used on many light polluted nights on the outskirts of a large city. It also helps with some planetary details in general. The filter feels pretty solid and I'm happy with the quality of the glass.

Incredible,,,, at naked eyes there where no stars, rainy and cloddy days all week, lower clouds shinning the lights of the city at background so I put this filter in a XCEL 25mm on a 130EQ Celestron Astromaster and it was fantastic!!!!!!! I had compared it with an 24mm eyepiece without the filter and really works!!!! The other side is that it is very reflective so you will notice something shinning inside the eyepiece so u need to be in the completely dark or put your hands around eyepiece. Nice, very nice.

Not as Advertised
Not as advertised. I live in a very polluted area, if it's true that the filter work reducing the ligth, it is not as advertised. You will gain a bit more contrast ( i was expecting more) and a green like view of everything, even nebula like orion do not gain more. For 60 dolar this filter is overrated a is not good as i was expecting

It's OK for the price.
I can tell a difference between using it and not on the orion nebula. You can see the edges a little better. Maybe it would be better with a larger telescope. I have a Meade 114mm f/8.

Nice filter!
I used this one morning before dawn to see planets. Actually with remote work, there’s less pollution of all types now - so I can see the atmosphere better! Glad I bought this though! Recommended for viewing aide for your telescope.

Great product.
I live in Milpitas California and without this filter it was difficult to spot the orion nebula(pretty much blend into the background). Definitely made a difference for me. Just a heads up that what you'lll see in the telescope will be a white blob unless you use photography. The telescope that I use is an 8" Orion dobsonian telescope. Also, it does dim certain stars so don't expect to see every stars.

As you can see , the filter works. It's irrefutable that it works . The reviews I've seen that have been negative don't mention what scope they have . Refractor or reflector ? What's the aperture ?? I have a 5" Newtonian. Astro master 130. No problem here .

My most "interesting" filter
Dear fellow Astronomers I have been told that Astrophotography is a "rabbit hole", which you vanish down, with a lot of pounds/dollars on the way. So I don't do Astrophotograpy. However with the visual, you can always defend a few extra bits, if budget allows. I bought a lovely set of Celestron Eyepieces and filters (their box set). I am more than happy with them, then someone mentioned a filter that increases contrast and reduces light pollution ! I sighed heavily and looked into This product. A must-have, I thought,.... and still do, after trying it out. Firstly, you may see reviews, that comment on the "blue rinse" look to the images, but that is what filters do. You cannot delete (filter !) certain wavelengths, without enhancing the other wavelengths. Does it enhance contrast and detail, yes. Galaxies/Nebulea have become more obvious, when only tentatively there, without. This with my Celestron Nexstar C8. I have yet to thrash out how good the planets are, later this year. Expecting good things As to street light pollution, I think the filter may be better against Sodium Vapour Lamps, than modern day LED lamps. I had looked forward to downward-pointing LED street lights, for better observing. Out with the Sodium Orange/Yellow. Where I live, they are now, mainly intense blue/white LEDs now. It scatters, the same reason why the sky is blue . Worse ! I shall accept the small, yet noticeable, benefit that I have been given by this filter . I like it loads, however, only buy if you and your budget is/are fine with it. Everybody has different opinions.

Los resultados de las fotografías con éste filtro son excelentes. Aún dentro de la ciudad es posible observar y fotografíar astros del espacio profundo con una reducción de contaminación lumínica considerable.

Must read
It works fantastic and if you read any reviews about it not it’s because they had too high expectations in the first place, no filter can make the image brighter that’s not possible unless you’re using a camera. It reveals a lot of hidden detail otherwise unseeable due to light pollution and improves contrast, just as an example there is a big bright street light right outside my house and with that filter and a few shield I could see the center of the Andromeda galaxy through my eyepiece so I can’t even imagine what it would look like outside a city in complete darkness.
