Elegent Upholstery 4-1/2" Replacement Recliner Sofa Chair Mechanism Tension Spring - Long Neck Hook Style

Did exactly the job required of it - coupled with a bit of brute force and ignorance. The recliner lever is now a bit stiff, but it's probably because the spring is new. Hopefully it will loosen up with use.

I spent ages looking at various recliner springs until I found what appeared to be the perfect match. Unfortuately, the spring that arrived did NOT match the either the description OR the photo. The delivered spring was 5 inches long (rather than the 4.5 inches as described) AND the hooks were in line rather then at right angles (as per amazons photo). The number of coils was 19 over 2 inches (rather than 21 as described), this matters because it reflects the guage of steel used and the strength of the spring. On my original spring the guage of steel is just over 2mm and on the replacement spring just under 3mm i.e. a LOT THICKER and FAR HARDER to stretch. I had concerns regarding potential damage by the spring to the location points on my particular sofa. From the description: Coil Diameter: 3/4" (20mm), Inside Coil Diameter: 1/2" (12.5mm). Spring received: Coil Diameter: 16mm (4mm smaller), Inside Coil Diameter: 10mm" (2.5mm smaller). Note: Original spring: Coil Diameter: 18mm, Inside Coil Diameter: 12.5mm. I think it is a VERY good idea to show all the detailed dimensions for an item as this allows the customer to ensure a good match to their existing spring. However, this is pretty useless when EVERY SINGLE statistic given is inaccurate! Overall, a very disappointing experience given the time and effort I made to ensure a good match. To be fair to Amazon I did get an immediate refund.

Our reclining settee had a malfunction and could have cost a lot for someone to repair. However this spring matched exactly what was required and overcome the problem. Fantastic!

Only 16 coils not 21 as in picture but the length is correct. Luckily I bought a tool to hook through it to stretch it to fit. It’s fitted now and is doing the job it’s made for.

Picture shows hooks at 90° angle to each other but they are in fact in line. This puts unnecessary strain on mounting points and hook necks.

It’s a replacement Spring for. Recliner chair. Not had time to replace the broken one yet.

Great description on Amazon and was easily identifiable as the part I needed. Arrived quickly and fitted easier than I expected.

Don’t buy if you want a 4.5 inch spring (as description!), it’s only 3.5 inches long!
