Weller7135W: Weller/Ungar Unplated Copper Replacement Tips for 8200-3 (2/pkg.)

Popped one of these in my old Weller ironing gun and perfect soldering.

Fits--works as advertised--much cheaper than the local ironmonger

They don't last very long and the tip breaks or comes apart.

These tips, as the picture shows, are plated; despite what the description shows. These tips can be used in the older version soldering gun like mine which requires bending the tips. You just slide the tightening nuts over tip ends (threaded side out) and then take a pair of pliers and bend about 1/4 to 3/8 inches of the end to the side to fit into the hole on the end of the soldering gun. Note that the bend radius has to be fairly tight but do not try to make an absolutely square right angle bend as it can break off if you do that. Also be careful to bend the two ends of the tip at exactly the same place so the tip will fit properly and straight. If you do this these tips fit and work perfectly in an older style Weller soldering gun like mine. Weller does sell a version of these with the tightening nuts attached and the ends pre-bent, for about twice the price per tip of the plain tips. But with a little skill you can save money bending the ends yourself and reusing your tightening Weller nuts.I like that these tips are plated all over. There is a tendency for Weller soldering tips to have to be retightened frequently as oxidation of the copper in the mounting end keeps the tip from getting fully hot. If you find your tip is not heating well, back off the nut or screw a bit then re-tighten - Do not just tighten more without doing this. By doing this it rubs away the oxidation in the connection of the tip so you don't have to over-tighten the connection. Excessive over-tightening of the connection nuts can cause the tip end to shear off in the type soldering gun that requires bending the tip end to install.

This is a perfect replacement tip for a Weller 8200 soldering gun. It required no filing or bending to make it fit in the gun.
