Good little entry level welder.
Good little entry level welder. I've owned this now for several years. Will work off a 13A UK household plug; but on full power for a prolonged welding may blow the 13A fuse but works fine on all the other settings just fine. I bought it to work on sheet steel for car bodies so rarely need the full power setting. I've have used it to weld steel garden gates and iron work successfully. Works with both gas and gas less wire.Only issue is that the door to the spool housing sometimes pops open when moving it. Generally good value for the money.

good value great machine
I read a few product reviews before purchase and they mostly gave good reviews of this Wolf mig 140 gas/no gas welder. It took a while to set up as I was going to use the welder in no gas mode to begin with, the user spares kit is pretty comprehensive with various size tips and feed rollers (0,8 fitted as boxed) I swapped to 0.9 roller and tip for the fluxed wire provided. I found the flux cored wire difficult to load through the tensioner but when I managed to get the feed roller to grip the wire, it passed through the liner to weld torch without issue.I set up to weld the next day, outside in an awkward position, hence the need for no gas welding, having set the machine up the day before I expected it to work from the off, but again the wire would not feed, I found the wire had expanded at the tip and jammed in the nozzle a fault of the wire not the welder, I simply pulled 2" through with a pair of pliers and welding commenced.I welded 2mm plate to 3mm walled tube, I had to turn the feed up to full speed to get a continuous splutter free weld and amps on No3 running on a domestic 240v supply. The result is a good clean strong weld. This good value machine seems very capable and I expect years of diy use from it, it is ideal for beginers and the more proficient welders alike..

Tweak it and it does the job actually!
Well for the money it's actually a decent little welder for the money with a bit of tweaking.. nothing fancy but after a few months use it's going strong and I've ran some decent welds out of it. Get rid of the little gas bottle (the one supplied was leaking at thread connection badly! Binned it). and regulator waste of time. Get yourself some fittings to connect to a full size regulator and gas bottle, safer and cheaper in the long run much better too if your welding under 1mm sheet. Those little bottles will barely last the hour... If you must go gasless (I'm not a fan) try some decent quality flux core wire. the supplied reels won't help your quest for getting decent welds out of it. It is by no means a great welding machine and it is probably a tough machine to learn on if your starting out, but it works with a regular tweaks on the dials. so far a few months in reliable and can get the job done. I run it to quickly tack up pieces, and to let mates use in the workshop so they leave my good kit alone ;) it's not really a standard torch connection and the cable is really short but there is torch parts available. Bin all the guff that comes with it and it's actually a decent little mig for the money in my opinion. Obviously if you can save the money for a Euro or US machine I'd wait and go that route. But if you need a machine on a budget to get a job done I need a garage or small workshop this is far better than many more expensive Chinese mig machines I've seen. I'm a full time workshop welder so that's just my opinion on the machine I got.

Excellent piece of kit
Ok i have had this for a month or so now, it is an excellent bit of kit. I am no welder however and am learning by bodging and burning my way to success. One guy on here though said do not use the wire that comes with it, i ignored that advice but please don't ignore it here. Do not use the wire that comes with it, bin it and buy some decent stuff from Amazon. It is a remarkable difference and improves your "welding" by a good 25% right away. Ok the Welder itself is well built and it is a very powerful hobby kit that i suspect can weld a lot more than the industrial table i'm welding, especially in the right hands. Go for it, the tip is not "on" unless the trigger is pulled so safe. Don't buy a cheap helmet, you cannot replace your eyes.

Ideal first welder
Some reviews indicate that this product may not be as good as others. This is an entry level welder which is functional and easy to use. The welder comes with all necessary bits and pieces to gas or gasless weld. If you want to weld an oil rig, buy a pro welder at a pro price. This was purchased to weld car body panels and will weld metal up to 5mm quite easily. I have had previous welding experience both stick and mig. I bought this to enable my son to learn the dark art. The hardest part to setting up was unpacking the box. Patience and care required initially to load/feed the wire and minor consideration as to wire tension. Close the case and practice on some spare metal. Once adjusted and suitable feed rate determined, the result was a product that worked correctly, effectively straight out of the box. If purchased as a first welder it is excellent and reasonably priced. Far easier to use than stick welders.

It's not a DC welder.
Really not a bad little welder. It uses flux core wire, so does not require a bottle of shielding gas. Indeed, it has no option to add a bottle to MIG weld like some other more expensive welders. The downside to this is that flux core wire welders produce a lot of smoke and spatter. Also, the slag coating on the weld obscures the weld, and has to be cleaned off, like stick welding. On the other hand, it's inexpensive to buy and run.But not as inexpensive as it should be.It advertises as a DC welder. Not true. The output current is AC only. This results in more spatter and less penetration than a DC flux core welder. This wouldn't be a big deal, but you can buy essentially the same welder from other vendors for much less money, more accurately described.
