Fantastic. Nature based cosmic horror leaning heavily on the occult. For fans of Laird Barron.

I had this book on my Amazon wishlist for a long time partly because of the title and partly because of the beautiful cover art. A couple of weeks ago I decided to get myself a little gift and this book was it. Little did I know that I was about to be enraptured by these stories. I was entranced by the ominous feeling of dread and the intensity of the tales in this book. There is not a single weak link, it is truly a masterful body of work written with the skill and confidence of a tremendously talented author. As impressive as all the stories are, I would be lying if I said I did not have a favorite, Mare's Nest has brought me to tears and I cannot stop thinking about it ever since I finished reading the book, an excellent choice to cap such an exceptional collection. A must-read collection to anyone who appreciates great literature.

Una raccolta fondamentale per comprendere i nuovi percorsi del folk horror. Lo stile di Gavin, visionario, moderno e arcaico al contempo, ha pochi eguali nella narrativa di genere attuale. Da leggere, sperando presto in una traduzione italiana.

Thought I was getting into some weird fiction, turned out to be just overtly and unnecessarily-grotesque stories, with very unlikeable characters.For the price tag, pass this one by.
