Effective (mostly)
An excellent flash adapter for macro lenses. Some adjustment possible by rotating location of the two flash heads, tilting the heads differently, and through power settings. It now sits on my macro lens all the time. One downside, harshness, could be fixed by flip down reflectors / micro venetian blinds / refractors, / diffusers (detachable diffusers are supplied but cannot be brought into p[lay at a moments notice). An excellent piece of kit.

Easy to adjust
easy to use and adjusting the light level is great. Also flash heads can be removed to change location of light as needed

No LED for use at night
I extensively used the older model T-Controller twin flash back on my beloved OM-2n for macro photography in the transparency / film days and loved it. Rekindled my interest in macro insect photography with modern gear. Though the STF-8 is light weight, weather resistant and comes with descent diffusers, light that results in fabulous photos, I was very disappointed that the unit didn't come equipped with LEDs to illuminate subjects for proper focus for use at night like just about every other macro flash aftermarket or otherwise. Had I known this, I may have bought an after market flash such as those offered by Godex. This is a fine flash if you don't plan to use it at night or in a poorly lit environment.
