Y'all, are any of you super into hair and makeup? Yeah no, me either. I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I can rock a bun and sweat pants and call it good. But, I have daughters; gasp! Yup and one is just like me and the other, not so much. She is constantly watching YouTube videos and trying to figure out how to do new styles. Essentially I decided to request this book to review from Bloggingforbooks.com for her. It would be a win, win she could read it do her hair and the world would be at peace again and maybe I could get my ipad back. Well I was enthralled. I opened the book and learned quite a few things that I hadn't ever seen before. I'm all for easy and fast way to get ready and this book made some beautiful hair styles look fast and easy. So of course I had to try them out because we've done a few hair styles in our home that were advertised as "fast and easy" but the phrase false advertising doesn't even begin to cover it. We were able to mark pages that we wanted to go back to and flip through in the morning before school to get creative ideas. This book is so great and I love the example pictures.Negatives: Some of the hairstyles don't show the front of the hair. That is so difficult for me because I have a hard time figuring out how the front is suppose to look. I know that could sound really silly to some people but I'm a visual learner and so this isn't helpful to not see the front. Often times I will just ignore or skip the hairstyle all together if it doesn't have a picture of the front of the hair. :/Positives: I personally have curly hair. It's not the easiest to find cute curly hairstyles and this book did focus on curly hair. Having it's own section made it easy to bookmark so that I can easily go to that section. I do straighten my hair on occasion so it was nice to see all of the straight hairstyles as well; it was a good balance.Great table book as well. I'm grateful to bloggingforbooks.com for being able to receive this book for my honest review.

Hairstyled by Anne Thoumieux shows seventy-five ways to braid, sculpt, curl, tease and add accessories to your hair. The book has great pictures and helpful directions. Some of the styles are easy to accomplish and others are a little more complicated (and need the assistance of another set of hands). There is a glossary at the back to explain the various terms used in describing the hair styles and how to achieve them. Each style has the degree of difficulty, items needed to accomplish the hair style, and directions with pictures. Some of the styles shown are the fishtail braid (which is the one I wanted to learn), The Punk’s Pouf, The Zig Zag Par, and The Hair Bow (reminds me of Minnie Mouse’s bow). There are styles for all hair lengths (from short to long). The book also show a person uses for scarfs, barrettes, headbands, and ribbons. I have tried a couple of the styles. It takes patience and practice. My mother also loved this book. She had a good time going through it, and she even tried a couple of the different looks. I had a hard time getting the book back from her. I give Hairstyled 4.25 out of 5 stars. There is an index of styles at the book of the book which makes it easy to find the look you wish to try out. I do wish the book had a spiral binding so the book would stay open (would make it much easier). Also some of the styles only show pictures of the back of the hair. It would be very beneficial if pictures of the front were included in the book. Hairstyled was a fun book to go through, and had a lot of good ideas for dressing up your hair....which any girl could use, I am sure :-) Some of the styles were plain, and some of them I personally just didn't care for at ALL, but there were some really pretty, fast, simple, ideas.I really appreciated the way the ladies modeling the hairstyles were dressed -- in a modest, subtle way. There were a few pictures of the girls in tank tops, but the majority of the girls were dressed in plain, light colored t-shirts, with the focus of each picture being on the persons hair....NOT her body, or her face. The poses used were not provocative either. And having brothers and a father, that was a concern to me.I have enjoyed (and am still enjoying) several of the hairstyles. I like the ideas to fix your hair so you can wear it to church, and around the house, and not look like you were trying to impress people with your hair -- meaning that it looks nice, but not overly done.I found something to do in everyone's hair -- and in our family that can be quite a chore! We have some baby fine hair that is slippery, some hair that is a *normal* thickness but is straight and slippery, some hair that is super thick and wavy, some hair that is extremely curly, and some hair that is normal thickness with a TON of body -- too wavy to be straight, but not curly either. We have people in various stages of growing out bangs, and various lengths of hair. If you like styling hair this is a great book. Packed full of ideas that have clear instructions. Lots of illustrations. Gets my thumbs up.
