Good value, quality product
This video doorbell is requires a mains supply. It does not operate from a battery. If you already have a bell transformer this is a doddle to fit. If not, you'll need to install a transformer and run a wire to the unit. This is not difficult, but needs to be considered. Fitting the doorbell is really easy with all the necessary bits and pieces, even including a drill bit and screwdriver. You fit a bracket and then clip and secure the doorbell to the bracket. Configuring the doorbell to access your WiFi is also pretty straightforward once you have installed the ezviz app on your phone. Once configured, the doorbell can link to the ezviz door chime using the wireless network. Video from the doorbell can be seen on the phone app, stored in the (subscription) cloud, or locally on a micro SD memory card. It is also possible to use an existing CCTV video recorder to store video from the doorbell (conditions apply). In summary, a great choice if you don't want to keep changing batteries and don't want to pay a monthly subscription.

Steer Clear
I've been involved in IT since it's earliest days so I'm not new when it comes to installing items such as EZVIZ door cam, but the guide provided for the installation of the EZVIZ DB1C is possibly the worse I've ever come across. You won't be surprised to discover that not a hint is provided that a £90 professional installation is strongly recommended before you've purchased the damn thing, it's only after purchase that you're made aware of this important fact. Not only is the brief installation and user manual supplied with the camera wholly inadequate, but what the manual tells you're supposed to see on the Ezviz app screen and what you actually see on the screen bear little relation to one another. When running the app, pages after page pop up without a hint of what you're supposed to do or write. For example, no mention is made is made in the manual about the fingerprint recognition system (which doesn't work) used for logging in. As a further example of slap-dash packaging, the security plate covering for the SD card slot is secured with two grub screws but no suitable screwdriver with the correct bit is provided to remove the cover to enable you to insert the SD card, and yet, for some bizarre reason, you're provided with a masonry drill complete with wall plugs and screws for fixing the camera to brickwork, when in fact, in the vast majority of cases the camera will be fixed to the front door. Most unsettling of all is that calls on my mobile are routed through the door cam. For what possible reason would I want my private calls to be heard on the device fixed outside on my front door!!!! This even happens when the cam is not connected to the power supply. Again, no mention anywhere at all in the user guide as to how to disable this function. You have been warned. Waste your money on this piece of rubbish and it'll end up languishing in the drawer.

Good and reliable
I bought this because I didn't want to be like every other home with a Ring door bell. Also having examined many Ring door bells they also seemed to miss things. I'll state now I've never owned a Ring door bell, but I have used a lot during my work. I saw this Ezviz unit reviewed on GeekStreet and was very interested in it - mainly because it can work with an existing door chime. So I went and bought one. It's not been that easy to install (as I needed a 12v transformer) but when I did get it running - I was very happy with the results. The doorbell works perfectly with my existing chime (in fact it sounds better than ever) and the CCTV element is excellent. Storing on the local SD card means I don't have to upload to the cloud and pay for storage. As it works with multiple types of Wifi it also works at the higher speeds so connection has never been an issue. A lot of visitors to my house have been impressed that I can monitor then using my mobile device anywhere. The call quality is also better I think compared when compared to the Ring door bell. Put simply this is a bit less user friendly to install but the results are probably better than others in the market. Overall I'm very pleased to have made an effort with it. Weeks after I set it up, it still works well.

Very pleased, does exactly what it says it will
Very pleased with this, I use it with a memory card because I don't want to subscribe to a cloud (don't use a cheap memory card , they are not compatible) . You can reduce or increase the motion sensitivity ( it can get a little annoying to be notified of every car that drives past on a road near a school...) The range and zoom is quite good too, I can see to the end of my front garden the pavement and both sides of the road and the front of the house right opposite (residential road that is three cars wide ) . My front door is inside a cove so I can't say what it's like in the rain as my lense has never had rain on it...but I am happy with this purchase. The audio works both ways and I was able to use this from abroad too ( providing you have good and consistent wifi ) . I've managed to share the link with two other people ( I don't know if there is any limitation on it )

Unfortunately stop working after few weeks
I bought this doorbell in January 2021. Installation wasn't difficult, it did work with existing wiring and chime on 12V AC. it did operate chime until a few days ago but unfortunately, it stops... it was only working as a phone call. After I disconnected it from wiring to test if its a problem with the chime or bell I find out the chime itself is fine. After connecting back to the wiring it never connected back to the wifi network therefore it doesn't work at all. attempted several resets but didn't manage to connect it back to wifi. Contacted amazon support and manage to get a return label for it. Sending it back today for a full refund. The video quality was good. the live view did work well including audio but video calls never worked since the new... connection always crashed. When somebody pressed the bell and I was away from home and wanted to talk to them and answered video call, the connection always crashed. if you opened live view it did work fine tho... I am happy I am getting a refund for it and going to buy a different brand bell...

Does not ring on the phone - OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy s10
I have spent two days with Ezviz DB1 and here I lay everything in my review below. This would have been a nice doorbell with added features of micro sd card and rtsp stream and it does well both of those things but it fails as a doorbell. My OnePlus 8 Pro phone would fail to ring most of the time. Some kind of software issue as if I play with the app long enough I would get it to ring and then after some time of inactivity it would fail to ring. I have allowed all possible permissions for the app, disabled all battery optimisation and everything there is to allow the ezviz app to run full time with no restrictions and yet no joy. It just has a mind of its own and when the doorbell pressed it would ring at times and at some times it won't, I'd say it would ring 4 times out of 10. Wifi signal is good, I know because I stand next to the doorbell when pressing the ring button and I see a live video stream on my phone, it has enough bandwidth to stream live video but the app is not bringing the answer screen up. It would register on the ezviz app "call log" as missed calls. Ok, I would think OnePlus android has some kind of battery-saving feature that is out of my hands and cannot be disabled so it disables the app but the app is running I am looking at live stream and it still doesn't ring. Then there is my wife's Samsung Galaxy s10 and the galaxy phones are the king of all androids at least for most people so you'd think it would be optimised for that phone but the situation with the galaxy is even worse. I get my Oneplus 8 Pro to ring more often than I managed with the Galaxy S10 (1 time out of 10 on a good day). It is good as a cctv cam as the stream is more or less stable especially with that sweet rtsp support. it does not support ONVIF as of yet but rtsp is enough to connect and record to you NAS or whatever you are using. Google Assistant support - not really! it connects the account and shows up at Google Home but is featureless. I asked Google to stream to Chromecast and it replied back that this device does not support streaming. It also doesn't notify you if someone is at the door so basically it is connecting to the Google Home but does not do anything. You would ideally need a separate WIRED chime with this doorbell as you can't trust the app alone even if you are at home and on the same wifi network. I have ordered a compatible chime as one I had built-in wasn't compatible so I will test it more with the new chime thinking if I get something to ring at home reliably and still have a stable live stream on this it may do ok for me as Ezviz DB1 is still quite a bit cheaper then other more mainstream brands. And I don't need to pay for storage space as plenty of local storage options. On the other hand, I should probably return it and get Nest or Ring. Will see I will play a bit longer with this and then update you all here if I managed to get it working as a proper doorbell. UPDATE: I returned it in the end. Before returning purchased a compatible chime one from the list of compatible chimes and wasn't able to connect it. Instead ordered google's Nest doorbell and now I need to pay a subscription if I want to record and have historical events saved but it connected to the same chime I purchased for Ezviz and connected to my google speaker and google home and works perfectly, and it rings every time.
