Great HOB protein skimmer. It really does the job. Honestly a bit freaky starting it and watching the water level get so high! I had a little water spillage my first few times starting it back up after water changes. My lesson learned to fix this issue don't top up the aquarium fully until after protein skimmer is going for bit. I leave it a little under normal water level then add back in the water after, this is just how I have fixed it. I've watched every single video there is on this skimmer!! Any way it keeps my aquarium amazingly clean. I also added some cheato to the back compartment and my water is crystal clear.Good value. Great product. Fairly easy to use! Easy cleaning too that super important.And the collection cup is super easy to just take off and empty.

One of the best simmers I have ever used. Had to use youtube to set it up, directions stink. I'm glad I read reviews before setting it up. I had to cut one inch off intake tube to keep water line at edge of black plastic rim line. This allows the skimmer to skim the surface water and me to keep water line at top of tank. I am using this on new 38 gallon tank. Within three days it was pulling out yellow scum. This skimmer might be over kill for a 38 gallon tank but I am very happy with it. I have 5 inches of space behind my tank and after installing the skimmer I still have over an inch of space between the wall and skimmer. If you don't like micro bubbles in your tank make sure to use the foam discs on return line. I've had a few different skimmers as a 30 + year marine aquarium hobbyist. This by far is the best h.o.b., I've ever had. It took about a week or so to season it, but after that it has, and continues to operate flawlessly. I wanted to give it a 5 star, but for one modification I had to make. The system sits too low in my tank so I had to put a half inch block of wood between the inlet/ outlet pipes and the top rim of my aquarium. Then I had to cut the inlet pipe length off by about 2 and 1/2 inches. That said I expected that some adjustments would need to be made and at this point I still would of given it a 5 stare. But... the following reason is why, sadly I had to subtract 1 star. The white skimmer inlet cup I had to cut an " L " shape out of the back of it, so it then would be able to be adjusted slightly higher, giving it an optimal position to skim the top of the water allowing for optimal gas exchange.I highly recommend this unit for those looking for a hassle free h.o.b. skimmer. Those of you that have experience with skimmers know how from time to time micro adjustments are required from time to time. But not this one!!! Once it is seasoned, open the air inlet wide and let it ride!!So to recap.. I wouldn't look any further for a skimmer. This one will treat you tride and true with hassle free enjoyment! Just know if you have an aquarium with a border around the top of it you may have to do a slight modification to the inlet cup!!

Collection cup base was broken due to the pump being loosely packed with it. A little glue put things right and it works awesome
