*Updated* New review, manf. sent out a new product.
**The beginning of this review is old. I'm leaving it up here because that was my original, one star review. Since then, the Manf. has reached out, and sent me a new set of shears, and asked if I would update my review based on the new product. I have since done so, and updated my review to 5 stars. Not only is it an excellent set of pruning sheers, the company went WAY out of their way to make up for the initial bad product. I'm very impressed.**The new set of shears were a much more durable design. The are equally as sharp, but after hours of cutting finger width branches, the shears still had a nice, tight feel. After hours of use, they feel just as good as when they were first opened.Very impressed with both the product, and the company willing to stand behind it. Leaving the original, one-star review below.>So I see a bunch of highly rated versions of this product, and either I got a dud or these people have never used high quality pruning shears.(This is in reference to the first product shipped, none of the below applies to the new version sent out, if someone else got a dud, reach out to the manf., they appear genuinely concerned with making it right.)>I bought this to help take out some small hardwood scrub elms that had cropped up. The shears are relatively lightweight, which would be a plus except for how poorly constructed they seemed to be.>The entire product had a very loose fit, all parts had significant play in every direction. They were sharp enough to do the work, but were poorer quality than the 15 year old ones I'd been using previously. Fine if you're cutting through soft woods, not up snuff for harder work. For the price not sure what I expected, but after seeing all those glowing reviews I felt compelled to share my comparison to the much older tools I'd been using.>I should have spent the money on this to go get my old one sharpened.>After two hours of use, the tool which already had too much play for my perspective was significantly looser.

DROP THE MIC…….. NO PRUNER can match this ONE for the price! sharp, strong, extremely well made workhorse - ROAR!
you've GOT TO LOVE IT when products are manufactured with a sense of pride and attention to QUALITY! i was not sure what to expect when this gardening tool was offered as a lightening deal. the pressure of possibly missing out on a great deal doesn't leave enough time to comparison shop. however, being let down and having to return products that sound wonderful in the reviews, but make me feel like i've been tricked and conned once their arrive - gave me good reason to pause.as the time ticked down on this lightening deal…i raced over to my filled cart ( of unsure, hastily added products that ran the gamut from plumbing repair parts to a stun-gun and aromatherapy oil ) and hit "save for later" ( a bunch of times ) until it was emptied - except for this one purchase.the price and reviews seemed "too good to be true" - yet i took a chance and have been THRILLED with the design, usefulness and strength in slicing through my neighbor's overgrown trees and the damage their roots did to my driveway. this tool seriously rocked my world by making an otherwise frustrating chore FUN! it worked so effectively that i was actually LOOKING for MORE plants & trees to "prune."time in nature seems to heal parts of ourselves that we didn't know needed it!the shaping of formerly unruly branches, clearing away the impressively large piles of yard work ( accomplished so quickly with THIS AWESOME & now my FAVORITE of ALL GARDENING TOOLS i've owned ), smiling as you look at this pruner - because not only did it actually lived up to the hype, but it is far from tiring out or losing its sharp slicing powers. this is like an expensive top of the line race car — rearing to keep going. your sweat-equity is met with a perfectly timed cool breeze - as you admire the results of your handiwork.

Not the shears I expected
Just opened them tonight, haven't had a chance to use them yet. Why the 2 star review then? Should I give them a chance first? Frankly, this assumes they do cut at least as well as described. From here, I expect actual use could only cause it to go down. 2 things were obvious as soon as I took the out of the package. First, they are quite stiff and aren't even close to opening on their own. Maybe they will loosen up with use, but that wasn't a problem with my other hand shears. And one thing I can't stand is having to open them manually for every cut. If they don't "wear in" and start opening very soon, they will go in the trash. Second is somewhat a matter of principle. Did anyone else read the rating that specified "up to 1 inch"? You can't even get a 1" dowel between the jaws if you force them open by hand, much less CUT a 1" branch. And most shears max cut is well back from the jaw tips as you get more leverage. Assuming they cut as well as described, and in order to get far enough between the jaws to actually cut a limb fully, I'm guessing the max is actually closer to 3/4" in an ideal world. And that's generally not the world I live in. I don't expect to be cutting anywhere near the max rating of 1" with hand shears anyway, but I do expect the description to at least be theoretically possible. 1" with these shears simply CAN NOT be cut even if it is dead soft, a 1" limb simply won't fit!If I hadn't gotten them on a lightening deal I would return them. As it is, it's not worth the trouble, but these are not the shears other reviews led me to believe they were.3/4/19The company contacted me to try to resolve this, and I just received a new pair to try. These are much better than the previous pair. They work properly, and cut well while pruning my grapes yesterday. I still maintain that the heaviest cut would be 3/4" or less in softer wood, but other than that, I'm satisfied with this pair, so changing my review to 4 stars.

Super sharp
So easy to use, of course the paid that I replaced was over 20 years old, but still these work like the others did not

Great product!
I received them very quick, and I found they were very easy to use on my shrubs. When it came to my trees, a much bigger tool was required. OVERALL. Very happy with this product! Thanks Amazon 😊

As expected
I had one of these prior to this purchase which lasted many years and this new one appears to be identical. It works well. I have small hands and with the ratchet cutting mechanism it is easier to cut larger than recommended size branches. Hopefully this new one will last as well as my old one did.
