Q: Does this clock make any noises (clicking/slight knocks) outside of the normal schedule chimes? Thank you in advance :D

I'm listening right now and can't hear a thing! The clock is less than 10' away from me and I have normal hearing. The chimes can be turned off too!

Q: where do you install the batteries

Batteries installation is in the back side of the clock.

Q: what size battery do you use for the pendulum to swing?

The clock requires 1AA and 2 C batteries

Q: Can the chimes be silenced?

Yes, they can be silenced. That was the main reason I purchased this clock. It has several settings for the sound. When you open the clock you will see where you can adjust the sound to the off position. You can set the times when the clock will chime, what song will play and the volume. I hope this was helpful.
