What does it mean that it is "non-sterile"?

My guess is that it is not sterilized-put in a sealed package, etc. I did not need it sterile so didn't phase me. My doctor had me get it and use it before surgery.

Is this item okay with TSA in checked baggage and/or carry-on items?

I would contact TSA, it most likely falls under a baby wipe type product
