Exo Terra Large Compact Incandescent Light Fixture for Exo Terra Glass Terrariums PT2613 – Measures 36” x 3.5” x 7.8”

I am using this lighting canopy with the Exo Terra Large Wide terrarium (PT2613). It fits perfectly and looks like it came with the terrarium. The interesting thing that I found is that the two light switches on the side don't turn off the left and right sides of the fixture, they turn off the first and third, and second and fourth bulbs respectively. This is nice if you have a reptile who needs daytime and nighttime lighting. For my purposes I use the left side of the fixture as a basking light, and I leave the other side empty to keep that part of the enclosure cooler. I have it set up on a timer and I haven't had any issues. Great product if you want a lighting solution to match your exo terra terrarium.

I bought this lighting fixture, not for a terrarium, but for an aquarium. Though it says not to, it works very great for this purpose and my plants are flourishing. As long as you make sure they don't get wet, they are the best lighting for the price. I know for those who don't have the money to buy a T5 or Metal Halide fixture, this is the next best thing. I noticed results in just a few days! I also really like the duel switches that allow for different light level. I would defiantly recommend to a reptile or fish keeper.

I read all seven reviews before picking out the exo terra compact small fixture for my 30 gallon hex fish/planted aquarium. I wanted to provide as much lighting as I can on the the 2 watt/gallon. The original light fixure from the aquarium packaging only provided a single fluorescent tube light 8 watt max, I never used it. The exo compact has two incandescent fixtures and I'm using two 10 watt fluorscent bulbs from wal-mart. My plants were doing ok with my old small five gallon hood w/one 10 watt fluorscent bulb. Now they will do even better and my tank is lit up beautifully now. Fyi, do not expose the fixture to open water, it will corrode easily.

I own both Terrarium Hoods, here are the differences between the Exo Terra compact fluorescent 18" and the Zoo Med Naturalistic Terrarium Hood, 18-Inch 1. Exo has only one switch to control both bulbs while the Zoo Med has two switches so you can control the bulbs independently. 2. Exo has a 40 watt maximum incandescent rating, the Zoo Med is rated for 60 watts (both can use 26 Watt compact fluorescents) 3. Exo has a wider light distribution, being 7.8" wide vs the Zoo Med width at 5" 4. Exo's power cord and switch are on the right side of the fixture, Zoo Med's (two switches) are on the back. Something to consider if you are using two lights "back to back" or if you want the cord hidden on the back side. 5. Exo has a Sliding rim to mount accessories such as the Exo Terra Digital Thermometer and Hygrometer, the Zoo Med has no mounts. No big deal if you don't use the accessories. 6. Exo is a much nicer/cleaner looking fixture than the Zoo Med (personal opinion). Bottom Line: Like I stated I own both Terrarium Hoods and both are quality fixtures, I have both fixtures on top a Zoo Med Terrarium Naturalist 18L x 18W x 24H . The Zoo med on the back and the Exo Terra up front. I removed 1 star for maximum incandescent rating and only one switch to control both bulbs It's a personal preference thing! Got the small to go over my exo terra 18x8x18. It fits perfectly, and looks very sharp. Fits a CFL uvb bulb and a small heat bulb. Perfect for my Madagascar Day Geckos. It has one switch to control both lights, so you can't put a day bulb in one side and a night bulb in the other - but that's fine by me. It feels very sturdy, and like it will last with it's good looks for years to come.

Nice fixture. kind of pulls the whole "Exo Terra" look together. Works as expected. The only issues I have with these are that A) I was going to use 2 of the13W Exo Terra CFL bulbs which I already had on hand, until I could get the 2 26W CFL bulbs I ordered. Oddly enough, they were actually to short and the ceramic base wouldn't allow them to screw in deep enough to make contact. I had to use a couple of regular 26W CFLs till my Exo Terra 200's came in. B) It would really be great if they made this with 2 switches ( one for each bulb) as opposed to just 1. I'd recommend and buy again.

My 40-gallon tank for my bearded dragon used to only have one UVB light that I kept over his backing spot, and two additional heat lights to warm his tank. I am so glad I found this canopy top because it fits the tank perfectly, and I was able to install a UVB bulb on each side of the canopy to cover the entire tank, and two low-watt heat bulbs to raise the temp (since it's getting warm in the south where we live, and the AC was cooling his tank, this keeps it warm for him). I still have the hanging basking light over his favorite spot, so he has a nice warm home! He is a happy beardie!!

I have the 36x18x18 and had the pt2226 light fixture and one heat lamp but my tank wasn't getting the right temps for my leopard gecko. I've been wanting to get this light but everywhere else its almost 100 bucks! I love how it looks ontop of my tank and it has two switches! I didn't know that one! It makes it easy to have day bulbs and night bulbs so u don't need another fixture to do so! I'm in love with how my tank looks now! Couldn't be happyier and I hope my lizard is warm and toasty now :D

De bedrading lijkt in orde. De verdere bouwkwaliteit ziet er wel wat goedkoop uit, gezien het bedrag wat je ervoor betaald. Jammer dat er maar een stekker en één schakelaar op zit. Eigenlijk zou je beide fittingen los van elkaar willen schakelen (bijvb. 1 voor de dag en 1 voor de nacht, of 1 dag voor 12 uur en een UV-B-lamp voor 4 uur per dag o.i.d.), maar dat gaat dus niet out-of-the-box.

Hallo Zusammen, ich besitze bereits seit einiger Zeit einige dieser Abdeckungen. Diese habe ich mir jetzt kürzlich für ein neuen "Projekt" dazu geholt. Ich betreibe die Abdeckung mit 3 dieser Glühbirnen: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0006L2UK6/ref=ox_ya_os_product Passt Optimal zusammen, wie ich finde. Na jedenfalls kann ich so relativ einfach und auch "Stylish" ein 90*45*40cm (lxbxh) Becken auf ca. 28-30 °C beheizen, das bei einer Raumtemperatur von nur 16-18 Grad. Zwar haben die 3 Birnen insgesamt nur 75 Watt aber durch die gut angebrachten Reflektoren der Abdeckung ist die Lampenwirkung wirklich optimal. Was auch sehr gut ist, ist dass die Abdeckung über 2 Schalter verfügt. Dadurch lassen sich 1x1 und 1x2 Lampen einzeln an und ausschalten. Falls nötig ist das optimal zur feineren Regulierung der Wärme im Becken. Aus Erfahrung: 1 dieser Abdeckungen habe ich bereits seit 4 Jahren und sie funktioniert noch immer optimal. Summa summarum Kaufempfehlung und der Preis ist angemessen! Gruß

Passar perfekt, dock inte optimalt till ledlampor med e27 sockel från exoterra då gängningen gör att lamporna inte alltid hamnar med diodsidan nedåt. När man spänner den sista biten för att få lampan i rätt läge så lossnar lamphållaren, så viss försiktighet är att rekommendera.
