Q: Would you also get the Santoku if you get this?

I use the Wusthof Super Slicer and Wusthof Santoku in very different ways.

Q: How would you sharpen it?

This knife cannot be sharpened at home but can be sent to Wusthof to sharpen.

Q: How much use would this get if I already have the 8" bread knife?

It depends upon how much meat you slice. The super slicer is much better than a normal serrated blade for slicing meats like roasts and briskets. Since the edge is more scalloped than serrated, this slices cakes and softer items better too. It’s wonderful on bread, but any truly sharp knife can cut bread.
