The Last Knife You'll Ever Need
UPDATE: This knife has withstood the test of time. I bought this knife in 2016 and it is still a daily workhorse in my kitchen. I only wish I had more Dalstrong knives. The Shogun series looks amazing. Would do anything to own a set but the knives are getting pricey - understandably so though. They are very well made. Stop looking. You can’t go wrong with Dalstrong! Hey look I made a rhyme! You’re welcome. The Dalstrong Gladiator chef knife cuts as good as it looks. If you are looking to upgrade your knife for a true kitchen workhorse, look no further. Here is a brief summary of my review. For more information and to see what this knife can truly do, check out my video review and pictures. LIKE: - Light as a feather, yet its sharpness allows for it to power through the toughest root vegetables with ease - Its ergonomic design reduces fatigue - Tall blade for ample knuckle clearance - Solid construction - full tang, triple riveted. Designed for durability - Better than my CutCo and Henckel Pro knives! - Amazing customer service! Dalstrong truly puts its customers first. Dalstrong's President took the time to personally answer my questions about the product. Try contacting Henckel or Cutco's customer support via email; I assure you their first response will not be from their President! DON'T LIKE: - Not stainless so if you buy this knife, take good care of it and it will take care of you. I hope you enjoyed this review as much as I enjoyed making it. If so, please let me know! -ReviewGuru

Amazing "Old School" style customer service!
We bought this knife in February 2017 and it has been great! I noticed an issue in the blade in October 2017. I emailed the customer service for Dalstrong on a Friday explaining what the issue was, I was contacted that following Monday. I sent a picture of the flaw as well as the purchase order as requested. They told me that they apologize and this is a very uncommon issue and they would send a replacement. I received that replacement in less than a week, I opened and inspected it and it is flawless. This is an OUTSTANDING company that will stand behind their product! I recommend to anyone reading these reviews contemplating a purchase to buy it! The price is unbeatable, the quality is stellar and the customer service is unmatched. You will be happy with your purchase wether you're a professional chef or a home kitchen hobbyist. It feels great in the hand, the edge is beautiful and it hones perfectly. I only hand wash and store in included sheath, every other week or so I wipe down with mineral/cutting board oil and I steel hone before and after every use. Every so many uses I pass it through a ceramic hand sharpener and hone with the steel rod. It has maintained an amazing edge. I only wish they were actually manufactored in the US. Its a US company using German or Japanese steel (depending which line you buy) but made in China. Even though they're made in China they seem to have an immense quality control system that works and they stand buy it. Dalstrong is the only knives I will but from now on.

The first good knife I've owned
I'm not a knife expert by any stretch... Every knife I've owned before this is just a cheap kitchen knife I found at a random store for like $30-$50. Those knives weren't very sharp to begin with but quickly dulled to being pretty dangerous to even use. I was struggling to prep dinner and it just wasn't good. So I bought this knife and wow is it nice and sharp. Holding it is like Schroedinger's Blade. On the one hand it feels extremely dangerous to even hold because one false move and I'm slicing my hand open or my finger off... but on the other hand (the one not being sliced), it feels very solid and very balanced and it cuts things so effortlessly that it makes food prep WAY safer. Before I was having to really put pressure down to even cut an onion, now I'm gently sliding the blade right through everything like butter. So in terms of how effective this knife is... I'd say 100%. It feels great to hold. It has good weight to it. You can feel the quality just from holding it. Super easy to clean as well. My only concern with getting a fancy knife like this was maintenance... I have zero knowledge of keeping a knife sharp, or proper knife care, or anything... So I sort of "winged it" by getting a little simple knife sharpener off amazon that you just run the blade through a few times. I've used it a handful of times on the knife so far but honestly it didn't even need it. The blade is still sharp a couple months later of daily use. This is a no muss, no fuss, sharp as a razor knife that gets the job done. I'm super happy with it and glad I finally spent a bit more money on a quality kitchen knife. It makes chopping stuff fun.

Perfection in cutlery.
Absolute high quality knives. Extremely well made. I really like all the different series that are offered as well as other kitchen tools and items. They have some very unique items and one of a kind. I got some of the gladiator series for my oldest son and the show gun series for my youngest son for Christmas. I even got a couple for myself. These knives will last a lifetime and beyond if they are taken care of. I'm a very happy and will be a life long customer. Many more items I will be ordering in the future.

Excellent chef knife
Excellent chef knife. I have used many kitchen knives during my days as a chef, and will say with confidence, that this is one of the best I have ever used. It is a little heavy, but that is to be expected from a high grade German made knife. I will be putting this blade to good use seeing as how its primary purpose will be slicing slow smoked meats from my smoker.

4.5 Stars. Great Knife Could Be The Best I Ever Owned.
I really would like to give this knife 4.5 stars. As a Chef in a busy country club a good knife is a must. I do a lot of knife work when it comes to prepping parties of 40+. This knife lives up to being the "Work Horse". I've used it for a week and I must say form cutting salad mix to even the tough cuts like carrot sticks this can do it all! The weight and balance is the perfect mix to really let the knife do all the work. It cuts through veggies like butter without having to use the cutting stroke motion, just a straight down pressure is enough. Cutting 8oz cold chicken breast with ease when applying the cutting motion. It has not needed sharpening yet so it definitely holds an edge. My ONLY draw back is the handle. While it is beautiful with a smooth finish, it is not textured. Once u get a little moisture or oil (from fat) on your glove or hand it becomes a little slippery and harder to hold. Nothing a nice wipe off and change of gloves can't handle but sometimes you just want to finish the job. Other than that I highly recommend this knife it will be something you are proud of and always trying to find reasons to use.

NO BRAINER!!!!
What a quality tool !! I'm no pro but I have handled many knives in every price range and I have to say this knife offers one of the best bangs for your buck out there. I read reviews for hours before making this purchase and to say the least I am tickled pink. Unboxing this rascal was a pleasure itself but when I took the handle in my hand it immediately felt like an extension of me. The blade came scary sharp and continues to hold an edge contrary to reviews I've read regarding its Rockwell rating. This knife is well balanced with the perfect amount of heft (for me anyway) that proves to provide a stable platform for chopping, dicing, slicing etc.. My opinion is that this knife is perfect for all the duties it is intended for wether you are a professional or a Youtube certified professional (i.e. home chef) this a great value and perfect addition to any cutlery set. Unless you have little tiny rat claws for hands this knife is one of the best I have handled at any price point and if do not prefer a European style knife well Dalstrong offers several options esp in the Japanese style..Just buy the damn thing it will not disappoint unless you are one these people who are overly and unjustifiably critical of everything in which case you should spend thousands on a cutlery you probably cannot wield anyway. I LOVE THIS KNIFE and I think you will too.

Great knife and unparalleled customer service
We replaced our cheapie knife block that had probably 18 knives 2 years ago for this blade, eventually adding a paring knife and honing steel from Dalstrong. We were immediately much happier with the fit and finish, how it holds an edge and the quality and care that went into its packaging and craftsmanship. It holds its edge (which I hone on a Dalstrong steel every couple of days) and sharpens close to factory-sharp on a whetstone (watch the Burrfection guy). I had noticed that it developed a subtle bend to the left towards the tip of the blade -- not sure how, but it does make it a little more difficult to sharpen/hone the last inch or so. I emailed Dalstrong last week (right in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis) asking for advice on how to remove the bend. Instead, they sent me a brand-new blade, all within about 3 business days. I was not fishing for a new knife, just for a best practice! But as Rachelle from Dalstrong customer care said: "The pleasure is all ours, it really means a lot to us to be able to earn your loyalty and set things right. We are in this for the long haul and believe integrity and customer commitment is the foundation on which we all benefit." We don't intend to get many more knives -- our needs are being met by our chef's and paring knives -- but when we need another one (maybe small chef's knife for our son to begin in the kitchen?) we'll get another Dalstrong. You should too -- you won't be disappointed.
