Q: What else comes in the box? Is there a manual, brochure, or pamphlet?

There are instructions on how to hang the feeder. It has to be a minimum distance from a wall or tree and a minimum distance from the access below. They are really squirrel proof. We had squirrels spending all day at our bird feeder. Now that we have this feeder most squirrels try to come from the top but fall off. Some get into the bird perch but then their weight causes the access to the openings to close, so they give up quickly. (It doesn't work for flying squirrels which are nocturnal, as they are too light).

Q: Why do male cardinals flutter while trying to use cardinal ring. Females are fine.

The young males seem to have a learning curve, I watched a daddy send several hours feeding seeds to the young fledglings. He would go to feeder, get seed fly up to kid, etc. With in days they would all be using the ring.
