On his show Dr Oz said that DGL licorice helps stomach issues but how is this diff from licorice root which he also said helps on another ep last month,.. are they the same thing?

Licorice root is supposed to help with some digestive tract problems but also contains glycyrrhizin, which has been linked to lowered potassium levels and resulting problems such as heart arrhythmia and high blood pressure. Does this new formula work as well as the previous?

Thanks for your feedback. Reformulating products people love is never easy, but the previous extract that we were using became unavailable. We are now using a new brand of deglycyrrhizinated licorice called GutGard™. The benefit of this material is that it is higher in flavonoid content so that the same efficacy is achieved with a lower dose of DGL. The amount of DGL extract per serving is lower than previous formulas but delivers the same valuable benefits with more potency per milligram. The dosage recommendations have changed to be in alignment to the GutGard research studies.

Why was the formula changed? each tablet used to have 380 mg dgl. now each tablet has 50 mg dgl.

I don't have the old bottle to compare the dgl amount, but the formula as absolutely changed. The product now tasted horrible and is ineffective.
