So this time, I decided to get the signed edition! I can’t even explain how much I love Lindsey Stirling. She’s the one who truly changed my heart and mind. I’ve never been a fan of anyone like this before — she’s such a sweet and kind-hearted human being. ♥️🎻

Mir gefällt Lindseys Schreibstil sehr, das Englisch ist aber nix für Anfänger! Ich hatte 6 Jahre englisch und teilweise mit manchen Wörtern schon Probleme. Sonst auch schöne Fotos und rundum ein gutes Buch.

Je l'ai dévoré ! Bien qu'il soit en anglais (mais assez facile à comprendre avec un assez bon niveau je pense) et que je n'aime pas lire. J'ai découvert Lindsey Stirling sur youtube, suite à un partage de vidéo d'une amie. J'ai d'abord découvert son univers musical et ses très beaux clips... puis j'ai regardé des interviews d'elle et m'y suis vraiment intéressée. Je n'aime pas le terme"fan" pour son côté groupie et hystérique... mais j'aime tout ce qu'elle dégage ! Et découvrir son histoire avec ses mots à travers ce livre, co ecrit par sa soeur, m'a beaucoup plu et touché. Un beau message d'espoir, drole et émouvant... à son image ! Elle y parle de son enfance heureuse, son adolescence et sa bataille contre l'anorexie, ses débuts en tant qu'artiste "danseuse violoniste" dont personne ne voulait puis sa volonté de toujours y croire, sa foi très présente et enfin l'arrivée du succès. A lire et à découvrir... pour découvrir la talentueuse Lindsey Stirling !

I was introduced to Lindsey Stirling's music in 2013 by a friend who insisted 'you have to see this violinist who plays dubstep'. How do you turn down a suggestion like that? I feel in love with her style instantly, and have followed her stuff since. I was even fortunate enough to see her in concert this past summer. I acquired this book in a funny turn of events that had me giving it to a friend as a gift, and receiving a copy in return as one. And I am very glad that I ended up picking it up. It's not too often you get a biography that is written by someone so young or so unapologetically. Stirling tells her story in her own way, and if you don't like it, that sucks for you. The whole book is filled with humour and funny stories, and the person you see in the book is the same person you'll see perform on stage. It turns out there is more she's talented at than just dancing and violin. The Good Points of The Only Pirate at the Party: Stirling's way of telling stories is fantastic. Many of the stories from her childhood are nothing particularly special - we all have similar stuff we did as kids - but the way she tells it makes you want to ask her to narrate your own childhood back to you. Her enthusiasm and energy comes through in her words, and it's brilliant. The way she discusses her beliefs and religion is pleasantly refreshing. It's not condescending or degrading to anyone who disagrees, but rather 'this is my belief system, and this is how it affects my life'. She doesn't try to convert you, she just tells you about it. Stirling doesn't shy away from the bad points or negative experiences in her life. She tells you the whole story, ugly parts and all, which leaves you with more respect for her than when you started. She's not afraid to be the person who doesn't quite fit in. She's an inspiring individual, and a great role model for anyone. This book is laugh-out-loud-in-inappropriate-public-places funny. After seeing her in concert, I was glad to see that her sense of humour isn't limited to her performances. The Downsides of The Only Pirate at the Party: While I loved reading a biography of someone just a little older than me, you do end up feeling like you only got half the story. If she had waited a while longer, she would have had so much more story to tell. But I suppose this just means we might get a part two someday! All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it to any and all fans of Lindsey Stirling. She's refreshingly unique, insanely talented, and will have you laughing through to the very last page. She's got an incredible story to tell, and her work ethic is unparalleled. Definitely one worth checking out.

I got this book and got to reading it one evening - I had got through it by the morning after the next day. I was basically reading it in all of my free time, because it was just that interesting. I used to be a great reader, but have fallen out of it for several years, and nothing seems to hook me anymore, but this certainly did. One of the things I loved about it was that it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting in a lot of ways - I thought I was going to be able to feel the wonderful, sweet, quirky personality of Lindsey throughout the book, and I was absolutely right. It also confirmed what I had already assumed and hoped was true about Lindsey - that she was very grounded and human; in a lot of her experiences she has to go through things that everyone can relate to. She is not a typical celebrity with her head in the clouds, she's down here with us. Something I just loved was how clear she makes it that her friends, her crew, her family (which are obviously pretty much one and the same to her) mean more to her than anything and she appreciates them more than the words she expresses in the book can say. A wonderfully entertaining emotional rollercoaster - you will find yourself laughing and crying throughout the book, and after reading this I feel like I understand and can relate to her a lot more. I swear the emotional impact of all her music increased significantly too after reading this. If anyone has any doubts about buying this, let me just say that even to people who aren't big fans of Lindsey, I would recommend this book, so if you ARE a big fan...it's a must buy.
