SAMSUNG DLP TV Color Wheel - BP96-00674A - (L3 Chasis)

The color wheel worked great. I had to remove a jumper from the circuit board on the TV because the bearings on this one were different from the original. The colors all looked "off" until I removed the jumper which changes the timing. Thanks to the internet for that tip and YouTube for installation instructions, as none are included. Definitely not a job for the feint of heart but well worth the effort. Nothing terribly difficult, just tedious and time consuming. Got it done with basic hand tools in about 1 hour. Got another couple of years out of the TV until it died all together. Wasn't this part that failed though, one day it would turn on but it simply would not respond to any input. Very happy with this product. Helped get a little more of my money's worth out of that DLP.

Although my daughter and myself fitted this with ease, I find the quality of the color especially on people's faces and dark colors are very patchy, I also fitted a new bulb a few weeks ago so its not the bulb.I was just happy to get my TV working again and NOT having to pay alot of money for a TV tech, I followed the instructions from You Tube, which was very helpfull.

This product was exactly what it says. The packaging was good but the box had a label on it saying not to open it if you hear glass or they wouldn't refund your money. I found that a little odd because you would have to shake the box to hear that. Install was simple if you have basic knowledge of electronics and are not afraid to try. The color wheel comes in a box with no directions at all so if you are looking for guidance you need to look at You Tube. I did have an issue with the flat ribbon cable that doesn't have a connector on it. When I first installed the new wheel I had the cable in backwards so the TV wouldn't turn on. After I reversed it the TV worked and the picture looks great.

This worked great in my HLP4663WX/XAA. By reading the other reviews I realize I might have been lucky, mine was plug and play. Just be careful to not move or remove anything unnecessarily. As for the shipping by Samsung Parts, "I paid for expedited shipping on the 2nd and received the item on the 8th. Considering I receive all Amazon prime items in 2 days I consider this very slow. The item did arrive in a well packed box and in good working order."

Item was well packed and appeared to be a genuine Samsung part. Replacement took about 1 hour in total and included me cleaning out the 6 years worth of dust that had been sucked into the tv housing from the cooling fans. This link [...]was PERFECT for instructions and I did not have to adjust anything once it was installed like some reviews note. If you follow the instructions and have half a brain this can be done by anyone... I took the extra time to clean out the inside completely and used a micro-fiber cloth to clean the reflector lens up. Pitcture looks as good as the day I bought the TV. Don't bother with expedited shipping the super saver shipping got this to me in PA within 5 days of ordering as it shipped from NJ...

Color wheels become noisy and often seize up because the ball bearings fail. There are installation videos on youtube and numerous blogs on this common problem for the do-it-yourselfer. The new color wheel I bought has an air bearing, but the supplier failed to include a note that a small jumper clip must be removed from the set when replacing a ball bearing wheel with their air bearing wheel, or the red/blue colors will be reversed on the screen, resulting in blue skin tones and blurred and wrong colors for other tones. I agonized over the expense and labor until I read about this jumper clip, and once removed the color was perfect. The supplier incorrectly told me the problem was related to wheel speed which can be changed by getting into the "service menu", which is scary.

Had to replace the Color wheel in my rear projection TV in my living room. Everything works now, but I think the picture feels darker than it used to be.. hard to see dark scenes when a lot of daylight comes in, but then again the tv is quite old so maybe it is from that.
