Q: Will it withstand a cast iron lid that just came out of a 375 degree oven?

The stand is "powder coated steel", but the description says the spoon rest can only handle 320°F and doesn't say what that part is made of. It's one thing if you bump a large stove lid and it rolls off or falls over - it's another to take a hot, heavy lid straight out of the oven and rest it like this - that's not what this is for (nor what any lid stand should be used for).

Q: Can it stand a heavy le creuset or staub cast iron lid?

Yes, I'm sure can. We don't have a large, super heavy cast iron lid but we do have a very large super heavy glass lid that goes on our cast iron Dutch oven. It holds that very easily. The stand is designed so that any lid regardless of weight or size is placed in a near vertical position so the center of gravity is what holds it on the stand securely. The best thing I like about it is when you take the hot lid off a hot working pot or pan and lay it on the counter you have a puddle of condensation. The stand has a collection box at the bottom and it is non-stick coated and this collects all the drippings. So, it's saves clean up. And, it has a very small footprint so that you do need to clear away a lot of space on your counter to use it. Jim

Q: What material is the drip pan?

It is a plastic type material. Don't know exactly what. I am so glad I got this gadget. Works like a charm for both lids and spoons. I wash the drip pan in the dishwasher, top rack. I've had not problems with it melting or warping.

Q: Is it dishwasher safe?

I have put mine in dishwasher. The frame is definitely, and I imagine if you have a dishwasher that gets really hot, maybe the removable rest could get twisted, but I think it should all be safe to wash.
