Good to add to soil or semi hydro setup
These are nice. Pricey for the amount but worth it for my chucky soil mix. I did wash and let them sit overnight in distilled water.

Great for Drainage and Root Health
I started using LECA as an alternative to traditional soil for a few of my houseplants, and I can see why it has such a loyal following. Once properly rinsed and prepped, these clay pebbles do a great job at keeping roots aerated and reducing the risk of root rot. I’ve especially noticed a difference with my pothos - the roots look healthier and I’m not constantly worried about overwatering. That said, there is definitely a learning curve if you’re used to soil. LECA doesn’t hold onto moisture or nutrients the same way, so I had to adjust how I watered and make sure I supplemented with liquid fertilizer. It took some trial and error, but once I found a rhythm, it worked really well. The pebbles are lightweight and mess-free, and I love that they’re reusable- I just rinse and soak them again when repotting. Overall, I wouldn’t switch all my plants over to LECA, but for certain ones, especially those that are sensitive to overwatering, it’s been a great upgrade. It’s a clean, modern-looking medium that I’ll continue using as part of my plant care routine.

Plant people buy!
These are great for plant people! The size was exactly as I hoped, around dime size. Quality was good and of course were super lightweight. They do come very dirty but you just have to soak them in water and rinse them off and they’re all set.

Leca for plants
I use this during every repot. Some sources say to wet it first, as soon as you receive it. I do not. It’s the perfect size to cover drainage holes. It allows water out, but not soil. The roots grow around it the same way they would any other. There’s no scent, they function as expected (providing airy drainage to plant soil), and I personally don’t care about its asking me to discuss the color so - they’re brown. It’s also asking me to discuss durability so - they’re as durable as Leca can be!

Would not recommend
I am not sure if this caused any more extra drainage because the soil still acted the same whether I added it or not.
