I ordered this bag as a birthday gift/going away present for a friend. The first to arrive had deep scratches, was missing the dust bag, and the leather just wasn’t attractive. I understand leather is a natural item and there will be large variations, but it was really off. Since she was leaving in a few days, I quickly ordered the replacement instead of sending back the original bag and getting it replaced that way. The difference between the two was amazing. I should have taken a side-by-side picture. The bag arrived properly packaged, with the dust bag, and the leather was gorgeous! She loves the bag. I’ve noticed some large variations in the Frye bags. Some arrive and look wonderful, others arrive without appropriate packaging, missing the dust bag, etc. I’ve now returned four Frye products and reordered two of them. The reordered bags have been gorgeous and were keepers.

I'm in love with this bag. I saw it at a department store and decided I had to have it - and I am NOT a "purse person". I have never spent this much for a bag (and still can't believe I did), but would do it again. I love the look and feel of the leather - it appears "rugged" for the lack of a better word - it's not dainty. For me, the size is perfect - large enough to hold my wallet, makeup bag, glasses, keys, phone, etc. and not too deep causing everything to get lost and jumbled in the bottom. The handles aren't large enough to wear this bag on your shoulder (use the removable shoulder strap if that's what you're looking for) which is just another reason I really like it because when carrying, it doesn't hang too low like it's going to drag on the ground. My only concern is its weight - the bag is heavy because of the fabulous leather. I'm now a Frye Fan!

I have a couple of these satchels & still love them. I went for the Carbon this time. It's a great color. Pics here don't do justice. The Ice is a very light gray where Carbon is a deep true gorgeous gray. Love it!

I've never spent over $100 on a handbag before, so I thought a LOT about this purchase before I made it. I got the Slate color (very dark brown) on sale for $275 and figured I'd send it back if it wasn't worth the money. But it's a gorgeous bag! Perfect size, not too giant, just the right amount of interior pockets, big enough to stuff a cardigan into. I love the crossbody strap; it's a good length for me for both shoulder and crossbody options, and it's not awkward to wear this bag as a crossbody. It has a classic look that I will be able to use for the rest of my life. I can't believe I waited so long to buy a quality handbag. I'm in love with this bag and now I want more Frye bags :)

The laptop review was very helpful for me so I added some more laptop pics. I can comfortably carry my work laptop [Lenovo X260 with (inches) : 12.03" x 8.21" x 0.8" (mm) : 305.5 x 208.5 x 20.3 Weight: 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg)] and my personal 13" mac [with Height: 0.71 inch (1.8 cm) Width: 12.35 inches (31.4 cm) Depth: 8.62 inches (21.9 cm) Weight: 3.46 pounds (1.57 kg)2] with lots of room for other stuff inside.

I just received this purse and it was obviously already returned once. All the tissue paper was torn and taped back together with scotch tape. I inspected the bag and it had 3 scratches on the bottom and another on the side. These are deep scratches and the finish is completely gone. I returned it.I reordered the bag and another arrived today. It, too, has torn tissue paper and this time, a very large rubbed mark on the side. This is a beige purse and this color is sold for about $100 less than the others, so maybe they are all damaged? Given the nature of the finish, I think I can condition the leather and make the rub mark blend in.......that is the plan. This is a well made purse and a great style. It's a shame they didn't arrive as they were intended, but I think this one can be fixed more easily than the first.

I have been wanting to get myself Frye bag for a long time. I own a pair of boots, so I know that the quality this company represents is superb. Found this bag on sale here on Amazon, so I went ahead and snatched one up. It is stunning, quality of leather and marksmanship is incomparable. From stitching to hardware everything is done to the highest standards. Color I chose was Clay Red, but it is more like a chestnut brown with a slightly reddish tint, it is not as potent red as pictured, nonetheless It is stunning. I get compliments on it every day. The bag also holds quite a lot of stuff, I have an oversized wallet, makeup bag, other small items, and my trusted 9mm fits in there nicely. Looking to buy more Frye bags.

GORGEOUSIf you are a Frye fan and like a rugged, distressed bag and don't need a lot of compartments, you will like this bag. I lusted over this bag in Ice for years after spotting a lady carrying one through the airport. I have several pairs of Frye boots, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to pay the cost on this bag. Finally did it a few months ago.I. Love. It. The color is gorgeous, and it's getting 'beaten up' nicely. There are no pockets other than the ones on the wall of the satchel, they are fairy flat and small slide-in style with one larger zip pocket. I don't carry a lot of small, loose stuff in my bag, so it works. If you're someone who does, or wants things very organized, you'll probably hate it.The quality is, of course, excellent. Thick, heavy, beautiful leather that feels and smells amazing. Good gusseting, so that the bag retains its shape when you set it down. Roomy interior, well made adjustable and removable strap. Handles will fall flat to the purse if using the strap.This bag will last for a decade or more if you take care of it, and it'll look great doing it. If this is your style, don't hesitate to invest in one of these bags.

It would have been a beautiful bag but it arrived with several noticeable scratches.
