CAC China GS-9 9-3/4-Inch Greenbrier Green Band Stoneware Round Plate, American White, Box of 24

I bought this GS-9 9 3/4" plate set (24/box), along with the GS-15 5 5/8" bowls (36/box), the GS-31 6 1/4" plates (36/box), the GS-17 8 ounce mugs (36/box), and the GS-14 12 1/2" platters (12/box) because I needed to replace my old melamine dishes I bought at the "K" store 45 years ago. Age finally caught up with them.My grandparents used to own/run a small store/cafe, so I grew up using cafe style dishes. That is why I have no problem buying these and using them in my home. They are great dishes. I like the simple, classic design; a design which goes back a hundred years or more (just look at diner scenes in old movies).Did I end up buying too many of each? Yes!!! Who needs 24 place settings? However, when you price out smaller units or sets for 4, the price works out. Instead of paying $5, $6, or even more per piece, I spent $3 or less per piece with the exception of the platters. Try to get inexpensive platters!With plenty of spare pieces, I do not have to worry about trying to buy just one or two replacements if any break. You cannot buy individual pieces for many dish sets. And, if that set just happens to have different colors for each place setting or is no longer manufactured, you are screwed.Hey, I should be good for the next 45 years.
