Bright, Efficient Upgrade for Fluorescent Replacements
Bright, Efficient Upgrade for Fluorescent Replacements I picked up this 10-pack of Sunco T8 LED 4-foot bulbs to replace older fluorescent tubes in my garage and workshop, and the difference is night and day. At 5000K, the light is crisp and daylight-balanced, which really helps with visibility for detailed tasks. The frosted lens diffuses the light well, so there’s no harsh glare, just even illumination across the room. Installation requires a ballast bypass since these are single-ended power Type B tubes. That means a little wiring work is necessary, but once done, they’re very straightforward to pop in. I actually prefer this design because you eliminate the ballast as a potential failure point down the line, which should make the fixtures more reliable long-term. Just be careful to follow the instructions closely and make sure the fixture is wired correctly—especially if you’re not familiar with electrical work. Each tube puts out 2200 lumens at only 18 watts, which is a big efficiency gain compared to the 32-watt fluorescent tubes I replaced. They fire up instantly with no flicker, and there’s zero hum (a big improvement over my old buzzing fluorescents). The build quality feels solid, and the frosted coating helps hide the LEDs for a cleaner look. If you have a lot of fixtures to upgrade, the 10-pack is a great value. These also carry UL certification, which gave me peace of mind about safety. Bottom line: A worthwhile upgrade for anyone wanting brighter, flicker-free lighting with long-term energy savings. Just be ready for the initial rewiring, after which they perform flawlessly.

Standard LED lights, SEP to boot
I bought these specifically for their SEP wiring because when converting fluorescent fixtures and removing ballasts, it is just silly to run extra wires to the tombstones on the other end. Simplicity is key. All LED bulbs work fine. Though one came with the end of the tube cracked, it seems like damage from rough handling during shipping. Suggestion to manufacturer: Pack these better, please. Shipping can be rough, packages fall. You can avoid the extra cost of returns/exchanges if you pack these better. 1/2" layer of plastic foam does not seem sufficient. The color of the light produced is as described, I bought the 5000K 4ft tubes for my shop and am satisfied with the results and the also amount of light produced (more than the original 40W fluorescent). I will be converting also my garage lighting so I will buy more of these. One hiccup with the order (and hence 1 star deducted) was with Amazon's shipping. They had 1 box available in a warehouse across town so Amazon order page showed next day delivery. That was perfect because I needed to convert the shop lights over the weekend for the upcoming work the next week. And this is also why I chose Amazon's slightly more expensive LED lights over Home Depot's lights because Amazon had faster shipping and I would not have to wait 5 days for the HD package. Little did I know I was wrong in my anticipation of speedy delivery. Several days went by and no package. The tracking information shows that it was sent out of state, likely by mistake by a worker who threw the box onto the wrong truck. A few more days have passed and my package was still not on its way back to my state. It got somehow "stuck" out of state. So I ordered a replacement with 2 day shipping. The package was coming from out of state. Maybe the same one where my original package ended up? And while ordering the replacement, Amazon asked that I send the previous item back if it ever arrives. I agreed to that and their webpage asked how I would like to send it back. I chose UPS pickup. And to my surprise, UPS knocked on my door the next morning. I quickly explained the Amazon mishandling of the pickup to the driver who laughed, said it was alright and drove off. Dear Amazon, this should be fixed in the scheduling software. All-in-all, I could have bought the LEDs from HD and have them here before the Amazon LEDs. But we cannot predict the future and human factor so we just need to learn from that. Dear Amazon, take a hint, find out who screwed up the original shipment and re-train that employee. Or give them a drug test.

Very nice upgrade from flourescent
So far, I am loving these bulbs. They have such a much whiter, clearer light than my old fluorescents. The conversion process is a breeze. I did not even take the light fixtures down. With mine, it was easier just to remove the bulbs and lower panel and then re-wire 1 end. I have heard many say to remove the ballast, but this is not necessary. Yes, you must disconnect the wires going to and from the ballast, but it can be left in. This was much easier for me since I did not take down the light fixture to re-wire. The frosted covers are highly recommended. They are a slightly bright if you look right at them, but not enough to squint. The light they put out is terrific. I got the 5000K. My fixtures use 2 bulbs. You could only put 1 of these in, but I preferred to replace both.

FIRE HAZARD - DO NOT PURCHASE THESE BULBS
WARNING - Be sure to read the reviews of this product from customers who have experienced FIRES After 8 weeks of being installed, one of the bulbs CAUGHT ON FIRE! It was installed in our garage. I went to the garage and found it filled with smoke. As you can see from the photo attached, the bulb had melted and caught on fire, melting the end of the bulb and destroying the socket it was installed in. I've never had any issue with other bulbs or with this brand of lamp (I've got 8 of them installed!) I truly hope that other people read these reviews and don't buy these bulbs! I plan on reporting this to Amazon and whatever government agency I can get to hear us.

Just received and installed eight of ten in a couple of hours. Very pleased with the results. Being frosted gives nice even but bright light. Some electrical savvy required to bypass ballast for best and most efficient results. Used some of the review tips on Amazon.com but basically all connections at one end can be line and the other end is neutral.

The lighting is bright and it is simple enough to dispense with the ballasts, which is a plus. No more 60 cycle hum. I'd like to get some 96" for the garage, next.

Works great.

Installed these in my garage without ballasts. Bright white light, even brighter than a brand new fixture that was whiter than my old tubes. Totally satisfied. Only time will tell if they last long...

Love these. They work with the ballast left in, but too many on the same run and weird things happen. pull the ballasts and they work great. I've bought about 40of these now.
