Asimoly dreadful book
I rarely write reviews, but this book is so bad I have to warn others not to buy it. Despite the author’s French name, he is German. So this is presumably translated from German into (American) English. I know the area in which this story is situated very well and the author clearly does not. I ordered the book because of the title, but I admit I have only read the first 20 or so pages. It is simply dire and I was unable to read any more.

Excellent series
This is an excellent series of novels based on an interesting character. I look forward to reading the rest of them and hope the author writes several more.

Disappointed
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed this author's other books, I was disappointed with this one. Too much info on how salt is harvested, and somehow the characters not so interesting.

This author is a real find
Excellent book informative with a real sense of place and the mystery cracks on well. I enjoy this authors work very much and through his novels learn something about Brittany.

The French Cliche
So cliched. Never ending descriptions of food, customs and scenery that have no relevance to the plot. Plus random moments of potential romance. It’s like food chain ‘formula food’ really. I gave up. For young readers or those after a very light weight wander it’s probably a easy read that introduces you to a delightful part of France. But that’s about all. Past this sort of stuff. His first book was better.
