Completely unwrap and inspect them for chips immediately.
These are nice weights unfortunately they arrived chipped but I didn't fully unwrap them until it was too late to return or exchange them.

Absolute necessity if making sauerkraut!!
I have tried cobble jobbing some weights in the past when making sauerkraut, but none came even close to working as well these weights. I highly recommend them.
