At First I was Afraid; I was Petrified...
I heard so many negative reviews about this lens, but I think it all depends on what you are doing with this lens.First: the chromatic aberration is terrible with this one. I use an EOS-M camera body with this lens. The EOS to EOSM speed booster multiplies the chromatic aberration more than if you use the lens with a simple converter. You can improve the chromatic aberration by taking shots at certain angles respective to the light and by using certain filters. OR you can use certain other filters and set the camera lighting temperature (how blue or red the light is interpreted by your camera) to enhance this chromatic aberration and take very artsy pictures with a lot of character. Please note that the chromatic aberration problem [virtually] goes away if you take pictures and desaturate them (turn them grayscale). I suggest you do this while your camera is taking pictures in the RAW format for better quality pictures.Second: The contrast. I personally found no issues while using this lens when it came to contrast. For the most part I manually focus before taking my shots and make my subjects be at different locations in the shot. If you play your cards right the lack of contrast actually adds to the shot. I have not used the lens in auto-focus that much, so I cannot really tell if the contrast makes it harder for the auto-focus to focus well.Third: pinning/barrelling. I've noticed a bit of barrelling in my shots (deforms your subjects and makes them look thicker), but its typically not a major issue.Fourth: Stabilization. I typically find myself switching this lens in and out. It is not stabilized, so I prefer to use another lens which I have which is stabilized while I am not using a tripod. This lens is still a good lens to use without a tripod, but I find myself using it on a tripod with more frequency. This lens can be used for professional photography if you are quite creative on how you use it. But that requires more of the person behind the camera than it does of the lens in front of it. If you want to test the limits of your creativity or simply learn how to take pictures with a 75-300mm lens: it is an excellent purchase for the money. Not to mention that this kit also includes some filters that, alone, would cost at least 1/3 of the price of the whole purchase.

It's a good lense. Needs a tripod when zoomed.
It's a great lense. The quality is great. Once the camera is put on a tripod. But, if you are just walking around, snapping pictures. Even if not zoomed, you have to be very still, as is in, hold ur breath, don't move, or it will be out of focus, even though, it was focused before you hit the shutter button. Works better if you have a remote so you don't actually have to touch the camera. But I would recommend buying this lense. I still love it.

Garbage add-ons make image blurry DO NOT BUY
The official lens on its own is $200 full price. This was $240 with its low quality add-ons. The 2.2x telephoto magnification and 0.43x macro lenses are COMMANDER brand. They scrub out the branding in the product images to make sure you don't research yourself and find out how bad these lens add-ons are.The telephoto attachment makes blurry images. See attached images. Image 1 is without telephoto attachment. Photo 2 is with telephoto attachment. Sure it is zoomed in, but at what cost? The Commander brand macro lens included was also fused with its own cap so that it would not come off. Essentially broken. I didn't bother with the rest of the bundled extras and immediately filed a return. The Canon lens itself is fine, though be warned there is no image stabilization.

Great bundle
Very happy with this purchase. I needed to replace my lens and was able to get this entire kit for the same price as just the lens would have been.
