The Blues Brothers Complete

The songs used in "The Blues Brothers" and the movie itself are iconic standards, known to almost everyone who would want this CD. However, on this CD the songs are so compressed and sped up as to be unrecognizable, certainly "unlistenable". I only made it to halfway through Track 4, Soul Man, before I had to take it out of the player and return it.Don't waste your money on this!

I'm reviewing this CD set from a different perspective than most of the other reviewers on Amazon. That is, this set got me interested in the blues from an historical viewpoint. I took Jake and Elwood's advice and bought all of the blues performers they mentioned, "before they're all gone." I started with Willie Mabon, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, and Muddy Waters. I bought music by Cab Calloway, and a blues anthology from Time-Life. I was fortunate to see Waters and Wolf live in Chicago. This CD set, and the 25th Anniversary Blues Brothers DVD are a must for those who enjoy this type of music. I'll also tell you that Aretha Franklin and Cab Calloway stole the show. Ray Charles also played an important part. I'm really grateful because I'm still enjoying the blues thirty years after the movie and album were released. I'm still collecting blues and jazz today; from King Oliver to B. B. King. The music is enjoyable, and the movie is good entertainment.I'm a native of Chicago, a South Sider (Roseland), and I've seen a lot of jazz and blues acts in my favorite city. I lived in Harvey, Illinois, at the time when and where part of the music was filmed, and worked for the Woolworth Company for two years at the Dixie Square shopping center where the chase scene was filmed. Sad to say, the mall is no more. My recommendation is to buy this set, then go out and purchase music by the real bluesmen. It will make you smile!

I was hoping to replace my muck-loved Blues Brothers cassettes I enjoyed so much in the 80's and came across this collection. Although the tracks aren't in the same order as on the original concert recordings, it has all the hits and a few tunes that I hadn't heard before.

Still a wonderful CD with many good songs. I lost my and glad I was able to buy it.

I remember this as being better. The band is great and probably always has been and always will be. Maybe I'm just growing up (yikes!) or maybe maturing (no way) but you'd probably be better off tracking down the originals of these songs. Or maybe you need to be watching the Blues Brothers movie to get into their renditions.

A good selection of songs, but unsure whether they sung by the original artists,however a good purchase to get a excellent cross section of the Blues Brothers albums.

... ist die CD wohl eher nichts. Die originalen Alben mit ihren (mutmaßlichen) Booklets sind wahrscheinlich ein Muss. Wer nur die Musik mag, wird mit dieser Sammlung aber zufrieden sein. Mit Sicherheit kein audiophiles Erlebnis, aber das erwartet man auch nicht. Im Vergleich zur deutschen Synchronisation des Films, die derzeit immer noch auf DVD vertrieben wird, klingt es aber angenehm und natürlich durchweg in Stereo.
