I like the longer overlap in the joints.
I bought this for my wife for occasional travel. My goal was to get as sturdy a unit as I could without it being excessively heavy, bulky, or costing a fortune. The last thing one needs is to have a cane buckle sideways when a heavy force is applied to it, and the person is relying on it to keep them upright. The price for this unit was in the lower range, and the tubing thickness was as good as others and better than some. While I have not done any testing, from an engineering standpoint I would expect the weak point of these collapsible designs, relative to potential sideways buckling, to be in the joints. Screwed connections can be quite strong if properly done, but this depends on how they are designed and how well they are assembled. Canes with screwed joints seem to be heavier, tend to be more expensive, and are a bit more intricate to assemble. For light canes with overlap joints, tubing diameter and thickness being equal, I would expect the most important remaining factor in determining joint resistance to buckling to be the length of the joint itself, the amount by which the outer tube overlaps the inner tube. If one looks at the pictures closely, one will see that the joints in this particular cane overlap more than others that I found. I believe this provides an extra margin of strength, and it is the reason I ordered this particular cane. The good news is that we just completed a 2 week trip, and my wife used the cane and loved it. It is light in weight, reassuringly sturdy, and easy to fold and unfold. It also attracted a fair bit of interest from other members of the group. Good Job!

Perfect Folding Cane
Ez2care Adjustable Folding Cane with Carrying Case, Black My wife got this nice-looking cane from Comfytopia. This is her first cane, and she doesn't need it all the time. She got the folding one so that she could keep it with her for when she does need it. Even though the cane folds up small enough to fit in her purse, it is sturdy, and she feels secure putting her weight on it. All the pieces of the cane fit inside each other and then they lock down with a screw fitting collar at the top. The cane fits in it's own pouch, which is also very nice, by the way. Other canes she looked at only had holsters. The pouch is nice enough to carry by itself if you are a man and don't carry a purse. The pouch also keeps the cane out of the way so people don't trip over it, and it never gets left behind. We're going to take it with us on a cruise, so it will get a workout on the 900 foot ship. Finally, the cane adjusts to a low height for my wife, who is only 5'1'. All in all, it is the perfect cane for her, and we enjoyed the quick service we got from Comfytopia.

Good value
I am recovering from lumbar surgery and currently need some extra support when walking. I purchased this cane to have something more compact and stylish than the plainly utilitarian shiny aluminum adjustable (but not foldable) cane we've had around here for years. This one was less expensive than several others and received pretty good reviews, so I took a chance on it. We just returned from a two week Danube river cruise that included quite a few walking tours which gave it a real workout. First off, this is exactly as represented: a fairly sturdy walking cane, composed of four sections of aluminum tubing, that folds up compactly for carrying or storage when not in use. An elastic cord running the length of the interior keeps all the parts together when the cane sections are separated, similar to the system used for many backpacking tent poles. A hook-and-loop strip can be used to tie the folded sections together to keep it compact. I often would fold it into two or three sections to make it easier to deal with while seated and I have not suffered the cord separation a few others have reported. Due to its construction with the tapered top of each section fitting into the untapered bottom of the section above it, there is no danger of the sections coming apart or buckling when weight is applied. In fact applying weight just makes each joint tighter and more secure. There is a little give in some of the joints, but the cane is it far from wobbly and easily provides the support I need for my 250+ lb frame. The length adjustment is all contained in the top section, which telescopes in 1" increments. As I have an unusually long torso, I'd like it better if it would go 1" longer than its 37" maximum, but this seems to fit in with the standard length of most adjustable canes I've found. For maximum stability, be sure to securely tighten the threaded collar at the bottom of the adjustable section once you've set it to your chosen length. The cane must be set at its minimum length, or near to it, to fit into the carrying bag. This is not a big issue for me, as I seldom have need to store it in the bag, but this could be an issue for users who adjust to something longer than the minimum length and wish use the bag for frequent storage in a purse or other tote, as they would have to readjust the height every time they put it in or out of the bag. The top of each of the bottom three sections is fitted with a polymeric grommet through which the elastic cord passes. After only a few uses, the grommet on the bottom section separated and became stuck inside the mating tube of the section above it. That has made this joint very hard to separate when wanting to fold the cane. With the extensive use given on our cruise the last couple of weeks, the same thing has happened in the other sections, but they are still coming apart fairly easily. The contoured handle fits my hand well and remained comfortable even over some extensive walking tours of several mile duration over cobblestones and steps. The black paint HAS gotten a bit dinged up revealing a lighter color underneath, but it is easily touched up with a black permanent marker. All in all, I am quite pleased with this cane. I deducted one star due to the need to readjust the length to use the storage bag, and for the grommets coming loose.

Well-made folding cane
I injured my knee, and although it's getting better I still have times when I feel unsteady and appreciate the help of a cane at times. I only need a cane once in a while, but I can't be sure when. I did have a 2-part cane that slid together, so I would take that with me in my backpack...it looked like I had a poorly concealed sawed-off shotgun. This cane is well made, slimmer (3/4" shaft rather than the 1" that my other one was, and folds down to three 9" segments and one longer one with the handle. The segment with the handle is about 11 inches long and the handle is about 5 inches across. It fits very nicely in my backpack, secured with the included nylon and Velcro strap, and I always know its there if my knee starts acting up. That gives me a nice feeling of security, is not a hassle to keep with me, is not heavy, and is very well made. It has two bungee chords running through the center of the shaft, which serve to keep the cane together. Assembly is as easy as straightening the pieces and sliding one into the other. The pieces overlap by 1 3/4", which is plenty for stability. There is a plastic ring at the end of each segment which prevents the segments from getting stuck together when you want to take it apart, and also prevents any scraping when the segments are together. Because of it's shape, the handle is much more comfortable than the "candy-cane" type or even the flat top canes. It's about half the cost of the sawed-off-shotgun type at the local drug store. I like things simple and classy, rather than flashy, and this fits the bill. One person even said the cane makes me look "distinguished." (Yeah, like a top hat on a wart hog.) I'm very pleased with my purchase...this little gem is everything I hoped it would be.

Ez2care Folding cane is Great
I recommend you purchase this folding cane. While shopping I narrowed the selection down to 2 canes and I selected this one. This cane is sturdy when assembled. At first I thought it was a bit difficult to insert the pieces together but now I changed my mind: You want a cane that is sturdy once it is together. I selected this cane based on the picture of the sellers which showed that the shaft of each cane piece was rather long for insertion into another cane piece. This helps make the cane sturdy when assembled. The narrowed shaft is approximately 1 3/4 inches long with a nylon type tip that is inserted into another piece of the cane. I purchased this cane for this feature because it provides more strength when assembled. The handle was wrapped in clear plastic material thereby guaranteeing the handle would not be damaged in shipping. The seller's picture showed the product to be somewhat silver gray and I was concerned the color would be to light. That picture is a little deceiving since when I un-packed the cane it was more of a gunmetal gray (darker that the picture). I also like the velcro strap which holds the cane together when disassembled and the storage pouch. This folding cane will be my trusty companion when flying domestically and internationally. I am very happy with my purchase. I am happy that I selected this cane. I recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

One of the BEST Cane Offerings Available, and at a FANTASTIC Price (read more...)
As with my other reviews of canes I've purchased through AMAZON, this is another FANTASTIC deal! A solid, very well made, adjustable folding cane, that is EXACTLY like the ones sold in your local pharmacy, at less than half the price. On top of that, it comes with a very durable nylon case, which beats the daylights out of the flimsy plastic retainer device sold with the canes at the big pharmacies. To make it even better, this one includes a nylon web strap with velcro strips at the end, to securely keep all the pieces of the cane together when you collapse it. If you've ever struggled with trying to keep the cane pieces separated while you try to put on the plastic retainer (the cane wants to automatically re-extend itself), even as the TSA people at the airport are trying to hurry you through the security check point, you know how frustrating and embarrassing it can be. Although the cane itself seems to be EXACTLY the same as those sold at the big pharmacies, the finishing touches make all the difference (nylon/velcro strap, "stuff" bag, etc.). And all at less than half the price--DELIVERED to your doorstep. Only one complaint--I tend to "lose" my canes a lot (I accidentally set them down at a store, restaurant, etc., then forget to retrieve them when I turn to leave). These are a solid, stout product, and in solid black (with the gold/bronze-colored trim ring at the handle base) these are very "manly" canes. But when I "lose" them, they never get returned, even though I have an address/phone number label on every one of them. My floral and pink canes on the other hand, always find their way home (I get a phone call, or they're waiting for me at the lost-and-found department).

Very light weight and decent looking.
I purchased this cane so I could fit it in my purse. An unfoldable cane is a hassle to me. It's always in the way when I'm not using it and I don't always use it while I'm out so I ordered this cane. I can't speak to it's durability since I just got it but it works well and folds up nicely. I'm 5'7" and it is actually just a tad too long for me but I'm going to use it anyway. I wrapped some Velcro around the upper part of it so that when I fold it and need to fasten it together it will be easy to do. It's attached so I won't lose it. It looks nice too. I gave it four stars because the instructions say to use it on your weaker side and that is incorrect. You are supposed to use it on your good side. I've had to use a cane off and on since I was in my teens and had never used one on my weaker side but I tried it anyway. I'm sure my doctor told me the correct way to use a cane but that was years ago and I didn't remember. Anyway, it doesn't work as well using it on your weaker side and actually made me feel unstable so I went back to using it on my good side. I like it and think it will work for me. Update 12/02/18: I've this cane for two weeks now and the paint on the handle has already chipped. I have two canes and only use this one part of the time so I've barely used it. I can't imagine what it is going to look like after a couple of months. When I've had it in my purse I have put it in the bag that it came with so it isn't hitting against anything inside my purse. In fact, I have no idea why it would have chipped. I do prop it up against things when I am not using it sometimes but I place it gently when I do it and oftentimes the handle isn't even resting against anything. I still gave it three stars because it's light and fits in my purse. I'm disappointed in the quality of the handle though.

Wow!
this cane is both attractive (should I say elegant?) and light weight ... just what I needed after using a heavy, cumbersome hospital-issue cane for years and years! I also use a power chair (mostly), and love that I can now carry my cane with me folded up in the pocket of my chair backpack. I just put it together, and it seemed a little loose at the places where it attaches, so I put all my weight on it and more or less hammered it down at the floor a little to get a tighter connection (but I really didn't have to do that) ... just hope not too tight to fold again, when needed, tho. lol my rounded handle hospital-issue cane, when propped against a counter or wall was always falling over, and I'd have to bend to pick it up over and over. this one leans perfectly without falling. I love it! I'm 5' 5-1/2" tall and 135 pounds, and the lowest setting is perfect for me and exactly the same height as old cane. the only negative I can possibly find is that the handle doesn't have a good grip on it ... feels rather smooth and possibly slick, in case I end up with sweaty, wet hands in this summer florida heat or during rainy season. it should do nicely, tho, for the short periods of time i'll be using it ... can only walk short distances. I see no reason to remove a star for the handle yet, tho , until I've had a chance to actually use it during the mentioned times. maybe I can find some kind of matching stick-on grip of some kind to give the handle a better grip. I might also put some kind of coating on the gold-colored ring around the top of the cane to protect it from tarnishing ... clear finger-nail polish? I'm not sure yet. anyway, even tho this might be a slightly premature review, so far, I love this cane!!! :D

โญโญโญโญโญ This foldable cane has been amazing. It's lightweight but feels really sturdy, and it gives me a lot more confidence when walking. I love that it folds up easily, so I can store it in my car or bag without taking up much space. The handle is comfortable to hold, and the height adjustment made it easy to get the perfect fit. Overall, it's well-made, convenient, and definitely worth the purchase. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable folding cane.
