I can Grill to my heart's Delight!
Love, love, love and did I say "love" this electric grill!! It's probably my favorite kitchen appliance ever. I bought it for Christmas, and have used it so many times since, that I can't even recall. Easy to clean is one reason why I enjoy using this so often. Another, is it is extremely simple to set up and operate! The convenience in "grilling" so many different foods on this is amazing. The taste of the foods grilled on this appliance has been exceptional rather than just "fine or good". Although the surface space of grill is smaller than I would prefer, and I do think that an extra few inches in both length and width would accommodate much more, the current size is ample enough to cook a variety of kinds of foods, but the main portions, to serve just about 2-3 people, or less depending on what you are grilling. For example 2 decent Ribeye Steaks, Or 2 NY Strips (fill up grill space), Or the same with 4 6oz. lobster tails, Or 5 or 6 generously skewered Shish-kabobs. On the other hand, one can also grill ahead asparagus, and other veggies, set aside and then reheat, or add side dishes via stovetop, oven, microwave, etc.,. Also, no matter What I have grilled on here, including bacon wrapped foods, there has been zero smoke. Excess liquids are Not to be spilled over the foods and through the grill. Be sure to read your directions. Marinate your foods that need marinating, PrioR to placing on the electric grill, and they will still cook great. I've done this several times, even with the meats that don't suggest marinating, but which I'd still like to soak in a desired sauce, mix, liquid, etc.,. This is a terrific product, and I highly recommend it for it's ease of use, convenience, and the flavorful, delightful foods I can cook on it !! Bonus- *It also has a "warmer" option to keep your already grilled foods warm without further cooking them, while you wait to serve them, or are fixing something else.

Big Bang for your buck
I rarely write reviews, but I am so thoroughly impressed with this grill I felt compelled to. For $130 ($155 if you spring for the warranty.), this thing is a bargain and a beast. I had an electric full size grill for our balcony, but it is a pain to clean and even though there is more surface area, it cooks food relatively slowly. The power button broke on the other grill and the reviews on this one were pretty stellar, so I decided to give it a try. ZERO REGRETS. I received it today and decided to give it a quick test run on a few burgers. You can’t fit a feast on it (4 standard burgers is about the max capacity.), but it cooks food FAST. Directions instruct to pre-heat 6 or 7 minutes, but I decided to let it go for 12. As soon as I threw the burgers on, pure sizzle. In about 5 minutes, perfect burgers and toasted buns. It cooled down as we ate and the cleanup is a breeze. The grill pops off, the drip tray comes out, quick rinse with soapy water and into the dishwasher they went. The package comes with a razor blade scraper to clean the glass and metal elements at the sides. Spray some degreaser, give it a quick scrape down, and wipe up with a magic eraser and she’s as good as new. I was apprehensive at first about what the quality of the cooking would be due to some mixed reviews, but I can honestly say that as a trained chef, those that weren’t impressed either paid the original ticket price or simply didn’t let the grill preheat long enough. This thing has been earned a permanent residency on my kitchen counter and it won’t be moving anywhere anytime soon.

This product is heaven-sent
I don't write a lot of product reviews, but this is one I can get really enthusiastic about. We are Manhattan city dwellers and love to grill. That's a problem because we live in an apartment building, and have no outdoor space, and no exhaust hood. I've learned to sear and broil meats and fish, but sometimes you need a grill... I considered many options - blowtorch, illegal hibachi on my fire escape, etc. But nothing could scratch the itch. Finally!! here is finally a HOT indoor grill that combines ambient, aerated heat with an iron grill surface that is easy to clean! It doesn't smoke up the kitchen any more than your stovetop range, and can seriously char some meat! It gets really, really hot. Of course this won't impart a charcoal flavor to your food. But it's much better than any George-Foreman-esque grill which are really just panini presses, to be honest. This one allows a lot of heat to grill and roast food while providing ample space above and below for food to aerate - which gives you a crisp crusty charred finish to fish and meat. This is DRY HEAT. That's what a grill is for. The product uses some kind of infrared convection technology. The trick is that the heat is emanating is situated above the pan where the drippings fall. That means the drippings do not heat, and don't sizzle. Hence no smoke. The food might smoke a little up top, but it won't create a cloud in your kitchen. Just enough for you to smell what you're having for dinner. Yum! Caveat: I am cooking for two. This isn't a great solution for a barbecue party for 10 people. You want to give your food some good space on the grill - don't crowd the lamb chops! So far we've tried some chicken skewers which I marinated in soy, sesame, and sugar. The first skewer actually overcooked in under 8 minutes! The second one got a better sear, and was moist and delicious. We also grilled a whole stuffed branzino. I used no oil, get the skin nice and crispy. It was some of the best grilled fish we've ever had. Winner Winner Fish Dinner. Cleanup is a cinch. The drippings tray pulls out goes into the dish washer. The grill comes off and goes into the dishwasher. I reward my hard work with another glass of wine. Hope you enjoy your Phillips Smokeless Indoor Grill as much as we have! Cheers.

Five stars... yes. Because it does what it says it does and does it beautifully. But let's be a little realistic here. The first day I received it I cooked two rib eye steaks. No smoke... beautifully done. On day two I put together boneless, skinless chicken breast cubes on a skewer with red onion and yellow pepper. I marinated the whole shebang in a lemon, honey, hot pepper flake mix for twenty minutes. Put it on this grill and twenty minutes later it was perfection in a basket. No smoke... just a bit of a lingering odor throughout the house. No problem there. Last night I cooked a London Broil on this grill. London Broil is an actual cut of meat but here in Southern Canada they use a sausage patty encircled with a bit of flank steak and call it that. The smoke was incredible. I cooked it under the range hood fan but the smoke permeated the house to the point where it was a real issue. Tonight I put 24 chicken wings on this grill. No coating... no oil... just chicken wings. Within 10 minutes I knew it was a major mistake. The smoke (again, cooked under the range hood fan) was so thick I could not see the end of the hallway from the kitchen. Splattering was so horrendous it was almost laughable (if I wasn't the one who has to clean this grill tomorrow... I can't face it tonight). I have every exhaust fan in the house on but the smoke is still as thick as heavy fog. So... I'm not dissing the product. I love this thing. But be aware that if you deviate from cooking (lean) steaks or skinless chicken parts... you are going to be amazed by the amount of generated smoke and required clean-up. I told my husband tonight that we may just have to move... the house is that smokey and smelly. I bought it because of all the positive reviews here. I'm not sorry that I did. But I think potential buyers should be aware of the limitations of the "smoke-less" hype so they will not be disappointed with the product. Bottom line... it's awesome... but don't even think about cooking sausage patties or chicken wings.

After hearing about this grill a few years ago I have had my eye on it for a while. Moving into an apartment that doesn't allow propane BBQs finally gave me the opportunity to switch to this, and since I am always trying to reduce my carbon footprint (all the electricity here is hydroelectric) this grill seemed like a great fit. And it is! It's performs like a normal propane BBQ, however it instead of using gas I just plug it into an outlet and grill away. No refilling tanks, no worrying about the temperature being wrong, and super easy to clean. After using the BBQ for a month I purchased a second one when it went on sale to have more grilling area for larger meals. Two of these makes for an epic BBQ setup! I make sure to plug each one into a separate wall outlet to avoid overloading the circuit, as each 2-socket outlet is typically rated for 15amps, and this BBQ is 1800W/15amps. Some kitchen outlets will have a seperate circuit for each socket, but this isn't the case on my covered balcony. Grilling results are very similar to a propane BBQ, perhaps a little less "seared" due to the lower temperature but still excellent. You can even cook up mushrooms and peppers in foil without any problems. The whole family loves the results.

Absolutely love this grill. We live in a condo where we can't have a propane or electric bbq on our balconies. This grill goes on my stove top and I can turn on the fan over the stove IF there is any smoke. Haven't had any smoking problems of any kind. The secret (since you won't get the flavor from the drippings of a normal charcoal/propane bbq) is to add liquid smoke to your recipes when you marinate your meat - or add smoke to the meat while it's on the bbq. Marinating the meat ahead of time is the secret to enjoying the food from this grill. We've used it 6 times since we got it a week and a half ago and every meal has been excellent. Very easy cleanup. Just soap and water and a sponge will easily clean the grill. Don't use the scrubbing side (the green part) of the sponge or you might damage the non-stick surface. I have made a template for the tin foil I put on the drip tray to make clean-up of the tray so easy. I just use soap and water on the sponge to clean the inside of the bbq as well. Seems to clean up easily. Also - does not stay hot like a regular charcoal or propane grill would. Makes the grill cool enough to clean about the same time as you finish your meal. Our son was visiting from out of Province last week and we used the grill twice for meals while he was here. When he returned home, he ordered the same grill from Amazon for himself.
