Grammy-Winning Conductor's Opinion on McKay's New Book
Status is reachableJohn McLaughlin WilliamsConductor, Violinist, ComposerGeorge Frederick McKay's theoretical books are of great interest. In addition to being a fabulous composer, McKay was a gifted teacher who had a knack for explaining and analyzing music in a very direct and communicative way. His "Creative Orchestration" is terrific. I've seen the galleys for the Beethoven book and it is an absolutely valuable addition to the voluminous catalog of Beethoven analyses.
