Nice Vibrant Cooors
The picture does not show just how nice and bright the colors are. They are small but good for smaller crafts.

Tiny; but really nice.
Forgoing the microscopic size of these skeins, the yarn quality is superb. I've only ever used Coboo by LB and I hated it, so I was a bit hesitant to try these out. They work up amazingly and they feel so soft! I got Nature, which is Sport (2) weight. I wish these had an option to get them in a bigger skein as there's one color specifically I'd like to use as a border. There could be, but I'm not experienced with Lion Brand enough to really know for sure! Just keep in mind these are TINY. Barely bigger than a quarter. I knew how small they were when reading reviews/description, but it doesn't really sink in until it's in your hands, honestly. I'm not going to dock any stars for that, though, as it's just a drawback of online shopping in general. These have made me want to try more Lion Brand yarns as they're so nice to work with. No splitting, no tangling (unlike Coboo!, soft and shiny. Very happy with my purchase.

Small Yarn for Small Projects
I bought the Jingle Bells Bonbons to make a set of Christmas ornaments. I knew they would be small, so I wasn't surprised by the miniature size. So far, I've made 6 small ornaments from the yarn in the package and there is plenty left to make more. The colors are really nice, but my only issue with the pack is that the yarn comes in two different weights. The solid red, green, and white skeins are a light weight yarn. The metallic yarns (or sparkle yarns) are even lighter...and I'd say they are thinner than my kitchen twine. I combined these in my projects and I felt it gave a bit of an uneven look to them. Individually the yarns are really nice and combined, the colors go great together. I'm just a beginner at this and I really noticed the weight difference between the different types of yarn. Overall I'm happy with the size of the Bonbons. I'll use them for decoration and accents in the future. It's nice to be able to buy a small palette of several colors.

Lion Brand Yarn
This brand of yarn is excellent for crocheting. Love the texture!

It's not the size, it's the quality.
I want to be very clear, I am not complaining about the size of the yarn; I'm complaining about the quality of the yarn, and the consistency of the product within one single package. First off, the yarn in my package is fuzzy and splitty. It's very thin for supposed sport weight yarn; going off looks alone I would have guessed it to be closer to fingering weight. (I noticed another review calls it sock-weight yarn, so I'm not the only one who finds it thin.) Even with that, the suggested hook size is 5.5mm--for comparison, that's also the recommended hook size for Red Heart Super Saver yarn, which is probably three times as thick as this stuff. The knitting needle size is only 4mm. There is not typically such a disparity between suggested hook and needle sizes. If you use the recommended hook, you're guaranteed to be left with a sloppy, floppy disappointment. The first picture I'm including is of some of the red skein. It is NOT out of focus; the yarn is just fuzzy. Now, the inconsistency problem. Second photo is of 7/8 of my little skeins (I didn't think to take a photograph until after I'd used the red). You can sort of tell from the product photo that they're not actually all the same size; it's more readily obvious in my photo. The package claims that each skein of yarn is 28 yards. The bright orange is visibly larger than the others. The yellow didn't seem smaller, but nevertheless turned out to have less yarn in it than both the red and the light orange. I was able to get a nice 6-round granny square from both the red and the light orange (which worked out to about 4.5"; see the third photo), with some left over, but the yellow skein came up short with half a round to go. I've been crocheting for 25 years. I am not a novice. This is not an issue of inconsistent tension. It's an issue of inconsistent amounts of yarn. I actually felt bad for planning to leave a three star rating right up until I ran out of yellow yarn. Here's my last issue: the colors don't really coordinate. I don't know if this is an issue across all the colorways or not, but it is here. The red and purple are fairly dark and rich. The green and blue/teal are lighter but still fairly similar. Then there are inexplicably three neon colors (bright orange, yellow, and pink) and the other orange is almost a pastel. And why two shades of orange? It's not red-orange or yellow-orange plus normal orange, it's neon and pastel orange. I'll make it work, since it was a Valentine's Day gift, but it's not something that adheres to any decent standards of design or color theory.

Great item, but SMALL
Great item, but be advised that the bonbons are SMALL. I was initially going to give this item a high rating given that people should read items descriptions thoroughly anyway (and it's your own fault for ordering something you don't understand), but now I'm giving it a poor rating because I don't feel it's clear from the description exactly how small they really are. This entry needs to be updated to truly show that - see the images other users have posted. I got these to make pom poms, and each skein was not large enough to make a SINGLE pom pom. For reference I had to wrap three skeins at a time to make ONE pom pom. So! Sorry to the seller for rating poorly given that it's what's described; it needs to be indicated more clearly to be taken seriously as a highly rated item.

Bonbons Are Perfect for Small Projects
These Lion Brand Bonbon yarns are good for when you just want a small amount of yarn to get different colors so you don't have to buy full-size skeins of yarn for each color you want to use. Go to the Lion Brand Yarn website for free patterns for the bonbon yarns. It will give you ideas for what you can make with them from color block scarves, roses, headbands, baby booties, braided necklaces, amigurumi projects, etc. Enter bonbons in the Search box and click on Go. Better yet use the following link: [...] I got more bonbon pattern results when I used it. I especially like to crochet roses to attach to anything. With these bonbon sets I get a variety of eight different colors in one pack. It gives me a means to make several different roses (Lion Brand Yarn pattern L20081) with the color packs, and not have to buy regular size skeins for each color. The name bonbons is a good name for them as they are small size skeins. Each small skein has 28 yards, 0.35 oz. I find there is enough in a skein to make small projects and the colors are beautiful. I have recommended them to all my crochet friends.

Too small.
I guess I should have looked at the net weight or something closer. Because this was a lot smaller than I expected. Not a lot can be done with it, certainly not what I had hoped to do with it. Which was make a scarf and head wrap for a friend going through cancer treatment. Just another reminder to read the descriptions of these things closely. But I should have known better for $12.
