Using this on my Sony A7r III. Provides good coverage when using it outside. It does stick out a bit more than the stock eye cap but since it's flexible and soft it doesn't get in the way when packing the camera. No complaints. If you are looking for a bigger eyecups then I would recommend this.

You have mentioned that it fits sony a9. So I presumed that it fits A1 also as the eyepiece spec is same. But doesn't fit.
