Prayer Book and Hymnal Leather Red Leather Bound – June 1, 1985

I was just a little disappointed in that the paper while NOT onion skin thin, it is a bit too thin, there is a lot of bleed over from the opposite side of the page. But much better than your standard personal size BCP.On the positive side, the font size is at least 12 pt. and very easy to read, the rubrics are much easier to read. The BCP about 5 lbs. and easy to balance. The hymnal is the complete and full 1982 Hymnal you find in the pews. How super it is to have both together, but when using hymns 650 to 780 the book becomes a little hard to hold. I have neuropathy in both hands and so this is a problem for me. However, I give this most handsome and user friendly BCP an A+. If you need a new BCP, I highly recommend this one. A Super gift to a loved one or good friend. However, since I bought this Prayer Book you can bet, TEC will be changing it very soon...always happen, anyone need a 1928 BCP? Just kidding I would never part with my old Prayer Book.

I was very excited to find a combination prayer book/hymnal and am not disappointed by this great product! The leather cover and gold-edged pages make the book feel just as special as a Bible. The text is large and easy to read. Just know that the paper is the thin/delicate type of paper we are used to seeing in Bible, not in prayer books and hymnals. It didn't take me long to get accustomed to being a bit more gentle with the pages than I am use to. I look forward to spending more time reflecting upon the liturgy and music during worship instead of juggling books. This is a great resource and I will hope to see it at a more affordable price in the future so churches might be able to stock this combination in their pews. This solves the ease-of-use problem without losing what is special about actually holding the words and music in a book in our hands instead of reading from a projection or the church bulletin.

This Book of Common Prayer is pretty thick but it has everything you need in it. It comes with 6 silk ribbon markers and has daily morning prayer, Rite One and Two, Noonday prayer, daily evening prayer, compline, suggested canticles. The Collects, The Great Litany, The Lectionary: Year A, B, C and Holy Days. Proper Liturgies for Special Days, The Holy Eucharist Rite one and two. It has the Hymnal but the songs titles are not listed on the pages which I wish they had done. However, you can look them up by name in the back of the book. It is a well made and very nice book with everything you could want in The Book of Common Prayer.

The print is bigger than the ones in the church. I use this for Compline every night.

Very nicely made. The binding is decent genuine leather (i.e. the third layer of split leather, which is better than bonded, and standard for bookbinding), which I measured at 0.23 mm, excluding affixed backing. The gold elements on the cover are embossed, and there is a nice gold braid design around the inside edge of the cover. The pages are onionskin, and there are several heavier blank pages for written notes - all gilt-edged. The spine is properly ketel-stitched and has six colored ribbons (red, green, gold, purple, white, black - in order) for bookmarking. In size, the pages are a little smaller than my KJV, and the whole book is a little thicker than a study Bible. Weight is about the same.In terms of content, it contains the BCP, Psalter, Revised Common Lectionary (inc. Daily Office Lectionary), and the 1982 Hymnal. Superb!

This red leather BCP/Hymnal combo is something I've been pining for since losing mine by the theft of everything I owned 2 years ago. My folks had bought me my original copy years ago & had my name was printed in small gold script on the cover. I'll look for someone who can complete this fort me.The quality

THIS IS MY SECOND PRAYER BOOK. I GOT THE FIRST ONE IN SEMINARY. IT'S CLOSE TO PERFECTION. SOMEONE PICKED UP MY FIRST ONE AT A WEDDING I OFFICIATED LAST YEAR AND EVIDENTLY DECIDED TO KEEP IT. I'M DELIGHTED TO HAVE THE SAME, IDENTICAL ONE AND I INTEND TO HOLD ON TIGHT TO THIS ONE AT ANOTHER WEDDING I'M OFFICIATING THIS COMING SATURDAY. THANKS, AMAZON!

I love having this single book for church services. For one thing, the print in the prayer book is larger than my pocket prayer book and is much easier to navigate about as a result. It's also much better if I am leading morning service as I don't have to switch between prayer book and hymnal. Having six ribbon markers is another big plus as I can mark the hymns without resorting to parts of the bulletin to mark my place. Definitely worth the price and considerably cheaper than at other websites.
