Decently made - by low-cost Chinese production standards - and works well in my application. I'm using it to haul a bank of photo lighting modifiers up to their ceiling-height storage location. The load being carried is less than 50 kg but it is large and awkward to handle: connecting the whole rig to this winch via a couple of pulleys certainly makes life easier and releases space on the studio walls/floor.Maybe I didn't read the description very closely (?) but I was surprised to find it was supplied with a wire winch cable already installed, ready to use. This was not suitable for my requirement so I removed the cable and connected my nylon lift cord directly to the winch drum instead. It worked fine in this configuration.Again, because of my application, I needed to be able to wall mount the winch, securing the face opposite the handle to the wall. I was able to do this using some of the holes already located in the side plate and a couple of M8 bolts to secure it to the wall. In this configuration it works fine for me and the winch handle is clear of any obstructions (which is essential!)My only small concern is that the ratchet pawl needs to be lifted clear of the ratchet wheel in order to enable the load to be lowered (only an issue because I am using the winch to lift, as opposed to dragging, so need to retain the load at height.) This is a trifle fiddly and I'm fairly sure that I'll lose concentration one of these days and trap my finger in the mechanism. However, as stated, this is only an issue because I am using the winch maybe outside its design capability.At the super-low price I am amazed. In fact it costs less than my original conception which was to use pulleys and jamming cleats and lots of muscle power and dexterity. This device makes the solution simpler, less effort, more secure and at lower cost. Genuine win-win.

I used these between two points on my fence and fastened through my outdoor canopy to pull it down and secure, great winch, very sturdily built and very unlikely the wire will snap in strong winds.

I have this about a year. Really good. I've bolted it to my washing line post and replaced metal winch rope with good quality fine rope. Seriously takes the effort out of pulling washing washing line up. The only minor complaint I would have is that the spring for cog has started to rust, so I may have to replace spring with better quality one. All in all I'm very happy with this product

I wanted a motorised one, but could not find a way to mount it, this was my alternative. Mounting was a problem but I worked a solution. I have a pulley system to raise the lid on my small swimming pool. This is taking over from my arms, now I just need to turn a handle.

The only criticism about this product is I had to dissasemble it to enable to screw it down and then reassemble it. But otherwise very pleased with it so far.
