Columbia Women's Newton Ridge Lightweight Waterproof Shoe Hiking Boot

It took me 5 pairs before I finally got the right size for these. Most Columbia boots run small and narrow. I know this because I own two different types of Columbia snow boots. They are the only brand I wear for snow/winter for the last 20 - 30 years. I bought these assuming they would also run small, big mistake. If you buy the right size, when you put these on, you won’t want to take them off because they are that comfortable.I normally wear 9-9.5 medium width shoes. I purchased a 10 wide, a half size up from my usual shoe size range, to allow for my feet to have plenty of room with hiking socks and because the toes are on my right feet do not lay flat like my left foot. Your toes should not feel squished in any shoe. I got wide because Columbia are usually on the narrow side. My left foot is a medium width (almost narrow) and my right foot is medium width (almost wide).I also purchased Columbia hiking socks which feel amazing in these boots.Quarry is a very pretty grey color with black, light grey and blue accents. Such a pretty color combination.I will be wearing these to walk our dog on the trails in our neighborhood, which I do daily and are often swampy and even flooded in some areas. I was previously using my Brooks Ghost sneakers but too often coming home with mud, wet socks and saturated shoes. We mostly do trails but also mix in some sidewalk walking, so I needed a shoe that would be good on both. I will come back to update my review should they not work well. Super excited to wear them tomorrow on our morning walk through the woods.Update: 2/20/23I wore these yesterday for a 3 mile walk/hike through trails and on sidewalks walking a dog. They felt great while walking. I did notice that when I took them off, that my one hammer toe had redness from the top of the boots while walking but I never felt this while on the walk. A few hours later and my left knee has some strange pain while going up or down stairs. Next thing I noticed was some lower back pain and pain at the balls of both feet when I woke up this morning. Not sure that I will be wearing these often, maybe only on rainy days, but even then, I am not sure that the pain is worth it. I do have psoriatic arthritis in my knees but this pain is different, so I must have aggravated my knee somehow while wearing these hiking shoes. Debating on returning them because my brooks sneakers work great but I was specifically looking for waterproof and ankle support while on the trails.Update: 2/28/23I have worn these again and had success, no knee or back pain afterward. Not my favorite shoe for walking our dog on sidewalks and not as comfortable as my Brooks but they are waterproof and are saving me in the trails right now.

I work outside, everyday, cutting grass and needed a new pair of shoes. I ended up ordering three sets of these with the amazon try before you buy program. Typically I fall somewhere between a 6.5 and a 7. The sizing could go either way depending on the shoe. I ordered a 6.5, 6.5 wide and a 7. The 6.5 was super painful and made my feet go numb within minutes. They pressed hard on my little toes and I ended up taking them off quickly, the wides were almost exactly the same; the 7's ended up being perfect. They need a few days to break in properly but after the initial discomfort they are very comfortable. I walk around 15,000 steps a day and they are holding up well. I like them so much I might buy another set just for casual wear because i just really like the way they look.

I bought these for a 2 week trip in Iceland and there were days where every inch of my body was soaked and chilled to the bone, but my feet were always perfectly dry, warm and comfortable. These shoes were killer. I maybe would’ve liked them slightly higher up the ankle but it was never an issue. Sometimes if I slip on ice my ankle will move a little but that’s bound to happen with any shoes. Tread isn’t the best but I usually had crampons on so it worked for the extreme scenarios. I did go half a size down, which I usually don’t with boots but these seemed to run slightly large. Walking in the neighborhood when it’s icy I would probably want to throw on some extra tread but it’s not the end of the world. Overall, best shoes especially for this price.

I debated back and forth with boots. But I decided to get these due to the reviews. I used them this past weekend on a backpacking trip. I did not need to break them in. I hiked 14 miles the first day in them and they were great. I crossed streams in them and was impressed on how true they are Waterproof. Hiked 9 miles the following day and they were still holding up great. I went and bought my mom a pair just for her. Don’t hesitate, get them!

These boots are flippin G o r g e o u s! Even my husband loves the look of them, and he is one tough customer.I have flat wide buniony, arthritis-ridden feet, with one silly foot longer than the other… Buying shoes for them is always a joy. NOT. Shoes should be like bikini tops and bottoms, mix n match. But they’re not, so I bought these beauties in a 9 Wide. They are at least an inch or more past my big toe, making them feel a little loosy-goosy, yet still too narrow.Fortunately I had a set of Dr Scholl’s inserts on hand and they fit in the boots perfectly, toe to heel.As for the width, I am ever hopeful they will stretch.Just too pretty to give back.

GORGEOUS, Classy, Neat, Attractive, Strong toe and model, good product and it runs small so i had to return mine, but, it was super gorgeous and a GREAT PRICE. It is a medium weight product, heavier than the more lightweigh tennis show style hiker, and strong but not as heavy as the old fashioned hard shell type boot that this is. If I were to wear this, my toes and ankles would definitely be SAFE! I personally prefer a wider toe type, and I could see if I would order the proper size in regard to this product, it might be wide enough. For me, I am an 8 and my foot went right to pressing the toe, so, if I were to order this, i might go a whole size up to 9 versus a half size. Not sure, just aim for bigger than your usual dress shoe when you order this product. IT WOULD EVEN BE WORTH IT TO ORDER IT, RETURN IT, AND JUST RE-ORDER TO THE SIZE THAT YOU THINK IT MIGHT FIT -- as it is CLEARLY A CLASSY SOLID ATTRACTIVE AND AFFORDABLE SAFE BOOT!

My first hiking boot ever, very comfortable I wore them all over Utah in all different terrains- salt flats, mountains, dessert sand and they held up really well! I just haven’t used them in snow or water really just puddles. They’re pretty light weight as well I thought they’d be heavier. I got my usually size, a size 8 and they fit good true to size with a little room for your toes/with thicker socks. Only downside so far is your feet do get sweaty not too much breathe-ability. But I think they’re great for the price!!

I was nervous to order these online because so many reviews were recommending that we should size up. I have narrow feet so I took a chance at getting the 6.5 and I do not regret it. There is room for my toes and thick socks. I really like how light they are as my other hiking boots were much heavier and caused me to trip quite a bit. I suggest anyone with wider feet get the wide fit as the boots fit my feet perfectly but would cause someone with wider feet more discomfort. All in all I would say they are true to size and I am really pleased with the boots.

I love these boots. I was skeptical about the other reviews saying the fit was right and there was no need to break in the boots, but its true! I've been wearing them at least twice a day, everyday since I got them.I take the dog for long ocean side walks, going in and out of tide pools, creeks, puddles, and mucky mud, and these boot have been perfect. My feet stay dry, the mud wipes off the uppers, and the tread is solid so my footing is stable even on the rockiest shore.In the summer I do a lot of mountain hikes and I think these would hold up to that use as well. They're probably not up to the demands of more technical mountaineering, but for day hikes they are great.I would definitely recommend these to anyone wanting a comfortable, waterproof daily walking/hiking boot. I'll probably buy a second pair in a fashion colour for the summer :)
