Will this fit a BMW X1 M Sport?

Although it is advertised for use with an X5, I'm actually using it in my M5. The lab coat I primarily hang from it is long (I'm 6' 2", and it stops at the back of my knees), so the bottom of the coat does not clear the floor. This does not cause any wrinkles, though. My suit jackets, on the other hand, clear the floor just fine. You may be ok using it in your X1 M Sport for waist coats or any other garments that aren't incredibly long. I hope this helps.

Will this fit a 2012 528i and is this the 2 bar base support roof system?

This does not fit on the roof. It fits between the posts that support a front seat headrest.
