It's rare that you buy a replacement part for your boat and it's easy to install and high-quality. The bulb burned out in the anchor light on my 1987 Catalina 27 and I tried getting an LED festoon bulb but it didn't fit properly into the socket. I also snapped off part of the plastic cover when trying to remove the old one so decided I should just replace the entire unit. Catalina Direct didn't have a good LED replacement option so I tried this one from Five Oceans. I was able to solder its wires onto the old ones and stuff them down into the extension tube, then mount the new light to the old pedestal using the existing machine screws. This light is nicely designed with a plethora of mounting holes around the entire circumference so odds are good that at least a couple will line up with the old. In this case, I was able to get all three existing screws to work with the new fixture. I'm hoping to get many years out of this light. The plastic lens seems quite durable and it has a rubber gasket where it screws into the base so it should remain weatherproof.

Product is very easy to install if you have the tools to do it. You need a drill bit that is the proper size for the product which is the most important part. Other than that, it's a very simple 2 wire connection. The light bar itself is light weight, easy to put in and remove between uses. The LED lights make it extremely bright. If you are replacing an older 3 mile light, the install took me less than 5 minutes, including unpacking, removing the old light and assembly. Installing this new one, testing it and even installing silicone on mine for extra protection. Legit had it done and on in less than 5 total minutes. Super easy setup.

Great product

Got this to replace an old anchor light on a cabin cruiser. It is very bright and pulls little power. I had to invent a mounting for it (at the forward edge of a solar panel) but the way the base is formed, that was easy. I also ran a little lubricant around the threads before I closed it up to keep out water and make it easier to open if I ever need to. It has been exposed 24/7 to all kinds of Colorado and Wyoming weather since June and has proven totally reliable so far.

Put this on our commercial boat. Easy to install and super bright for what was needed. Awesome value. Nothing stands up to salt water o er time so I’ll update if it ever stops working. After a few months it’s all good though.
