Basic alarm clock
Dislikes: Basic functionality / no USB, reception trade-off if you hang the cable you will get a better reception, if not and prefer to not have a black cable hanging on a white wall for example, the reception will be impacted.Likes: The low screen brightness and the size of the screen is legendary. Many other clocks are simply too bright to be able to be used in a bedroom. If the objective is to optimize melanin production and avoiding lights and wi-fi signals at night, this is a good choice.

Over complicated rubbish
What a peice of rubbish. Far too many very small buttons which upon waking up are easily incorrectly touched resulting in frustrating resetting of unwanted functions. I found that I needed to keep the instructions on my beside table (which are printed in very small print!) After over six months of trying to cope with this over complicated peice of nonsense I have consigned it to its well deserved place in the rubbish bin where hopefully it will be recycled into a biro or some such more useful item. Really Philips, you can do better!

Awful piece of kit. Much better options available.
I bought my wife this as an extra birthday present, and this has ended being returned as its faulty. As mentioned in other 1 star reviews, the volume when the radio turns on manually or by alarm is so loud your neighbours will be banging on the walls! The buttons are absolutely tiny, when trying to set time and alarms one mistake and the thing reverts back to its settings. We were awoken 2 mornings running at 5 something AM by being blasted out of bed at high volume when the alarm was set for later. My wife had a much older version of this and never had problem, but this version is awful and fiddly and not fit for purpose. Disappointing for a Philips product.

The display on the clock is good, large and clear
The display on the clock is good, large and clear. It is excellent if all you want is to see the time. Setting the alarm is a challenge because the buttons are so small and the instructions are minimal. l am usually fairly good at these things but even after a few weeks the radio seems to come on at random on a channel I've never heard of and can't seem to change. The alarm is confusing because the off, radio and alarm are all on the same button. I have just about fathomed how it works and as long as I set it in good daylight when I am wide awake I can do it but at night it is a big challenge.

it’s not too bad. The display is nice and big and can ...
Once I'd fathomed out how to set the alarm, (the instructions are borderline useless), it’s not too bad. The display is nice and big and can be dimmed so not too bright at night, however the two dots between the hours and minutes permanently blink so can be distracting at night. The buttons on the top are miniscule and hard to read. A strange thing is when the alarm goes off when set to a radio station, the station shows for a few seconds before going back to showing the time. If you’re not paying attention, (and who does when you’ve just woken up?), it can be alarming, no pun intended, to think that it’s 9:46 and not 6:25! I bought it to replace a very old Lloytron clock/radio that worked great until the volume control went south and it was either too low or too high. With hindsight, I wish I’d bought another Lloytron as I prefer the physical buttons instead of digital settings.

Fiddly to use and the buttons are difficult to read
I bought this to replace a previous digital alarm clock which was getting a bit too old and battered (very battered). I was put off many of the offerings on Amazon as they appear to be identical products given random names such as CHEREEKI, LATEC, iitrust, Trongle, Bigmeda, JQGO, etc. so went for a more familiar brand.Pros:-* Nice big display* Battery backup (although as with many radios this keeps the time but doesn't run the display; it's a backup power source, NOT an alternative power source)Cons:-* USB powered, so it's not synchronised to the mains electricity supply. As a result mine loses just under one second per day, the clock it replaced was spot-on.* Buzzer volume is so quiet that you'll probably sleep right through it. You need to use the radio.* Fixed 24-hour display, no AM/PM option.* Writing on the eight (yes, eight) buttons on the top is virtually impossible to read under ambient light; you either have to pick the whole thing up and face the buttons towards a window or it needs a lamp nearby for the buttons to be visible. To give you some idea what this is like for day-to-day use, here are some instructions.Enabling/disabling the alarm:-There are two alarms and two settings for each; AL1 (6th button along) toggles between quiet beeper (bottom left LED), FM radio (top left LED comes on) and off. AL2 (7th button along) does the same for the second alarm (LEDs are on the right this time). The alarm time will show briefly when you enable any alarm.Setting the alarm time:-Press and hold AL1 or AL2 (6th or 7th button) until the screen starts flashing the alarm time. Within 10 seconds locate and start using start using HOUR (1st button) and MINUTE (2nd button) to advance the time.Setting the clock:-Press and hold SET TIME (3rd button) until the screen starts flashing the time. Within 10 seconds start using HOUR (1st button) and MINUTE (2nd button) to advance the time.Tuning the radio:-Turn the radio on (4th button), then use tuning (1st and second buttons) to adjust (press and hold to sweep). Alternatively press PRESET (3rd button) to skip to the next out of 10 presets. Volume can be adjusted by VOLUME (6th and 7th buttons)Accidentally overwrite a radio preset:-With the radio on, press PRESET (3rd button) for 2 seconds so that P followed by a seemingly random preset number starts flashing. Press it again or wait for it to stop flashing; do something or nothing, it's up to you. Congratulations, that preset's been overwritten.Properly overwrite a radio preset:-With the radio on, press PRESET (3rd button) until P followed by a seemingly random preset number starts flashing. Use tuning (1st and 2nd buttons) to select the preset you want to overwrite. Press PRESET again or wait for it to stop flashing. That preset's been overwritten.
