Q: What process is used to obtain the frangipani essential oil?

Our apothecary in Bali uses CO2 Supercritical Extract method, which produces the purest, most potent essential oil product. In its normal state, carbon dioxide is a gas that we breathe continually. Carbon dioxide can be pressurized until it becomes a liquid. The liquid carbon dioxide then acts as a solvent that can dissolve the natural components present in botanical material that is exposed to the liquified CO2.Afterwards, the CO2 is brought back to natural pressurization, and the CO2 returns to its normal gaseous state. What remains is the resulting CO2 Extract.CO2 Extracts have a potential advantage over essential oils because none of the constituents risk damage due to heat incurred during the steam distillation of essential oils. In fact, our oils will not break down unless exposed to heat in excess of 320º F for extended periods of time. And, they will never go rancid with normal use, as with some steam pressed oils.Some aromatic molecules are too heavy to be present in a steam distilled essential oil. However, some of the heavier aromatic molecules remain present in the supercritical extract method. Selects. Oils produced using the supercritical extract method typically smell closer to the aroma of the natural herb than do steam distilled essential oils. Not product that arrived.

The oil in photo directly from Bali is NOT the oil that arrived. It was diluted version in a different bottle and smells more like a bad quality jasmine oil. What a waste of money! Straight in the bin.
