I debated for some time about whether to purchase the professional installation, and ultimately purchased without. I know that sometimes, deciding to do a home install or repair yourself can end up costing more than if you just paid a professional to do it — especially if you have to purchase tools that you don’t already own.I had a friend that offered to do it for $75 — I wasn’t sure if she had ever done an install of this particular model before, but I trusted her and planned on giving her a call once they arrived.Unfortunately, the package arrived while I was at work. Before I could get home and give her a call, my son just opened the package and set them on the table himself.Turns out, these are really easy to install after all, so next time, I will feel pretty confident in my decision to skip the professional installation.

While technically they worked, the quality of the injection molding was incredibly poor. As such the pucks dragged on my 4x8 large table and they frequently stopped in the middle of the table stopping game play. Incredibly frustrating. So I laid some 100 grit sand paper flat on my workbench and rubbed the pucks on the pair until I could see the surface was actually flat...but then the plastic was still rough from sanding. I then worked my way up to 1200 grit sandpaper in 200 grit stages and the pucks appeared identical to factory polished pucks except they now float forever on the air table and game play is extremely fast as it should be!

This is a great set I guess, except the pucks are large. When they state the set if for a full-size table, they're not kidding. We have a medium sized table designed for kids, and the puck gets stuck in the slot every time. It would never fit through the slot. My guess is you'll have the same trouble if you have anything less than a full-sized, professional table. These still work, but of course the counter it taken out of the game because the larger pucks never go through and down the goal slot. Other than that, the quality is good. Since it's clearly stated that these are large, I can't fault anyone but myself for the fit.

These pucks don't go the distance.My original puck is 33.0 grams. These new pucks are 27.5 grams and 27.8 grams. Based on weight alone you'd think they'd slide better but they don't. My original puck has a more shallow depression so it requires less air volume to lift. I also suspect the smaller lip means that the lip covers fewer holes while traveling and is also impacting the distance. With a light push my original puck will travel the length of the table, all the way back to me, and then make it about 3/4 of the way back to the other side before it starts aimlessly drifting. With a similar push these new pucks make it to the other end but don't make more than 1/4 of the return trip before they have lost momentum and stop. I can hear them dragging all the way.I cleaned every hole in the table with a pin and compressed air the other night then cleaned the surface with glass cleaner. I then rubbed waxed paper on it. It's a fast table and these pucks don't do well on it. Our table is nice, but but it's not commercial grade. These might work well on a commercial table.I'll keep them around for the kids, but I'll play with the original puck.See the attached picture for a comparison to my old puck. Great paddle and pucks for what I needed. Have an in home table that is about 7 foot and these work great. In looking at what to buy take note that there are various sizes out there and you need to get what best fits your table. These seem to be well made and the felts on the pucks seem to be something that will stay in place. Had them about a month and the kids have used them enough to know that they will be OK.

Seem the same as what you would get with your air hockey set. They seem lighter but that may only be me. So far so good though!
