Kenwood KMC-45D Military Spec Speaker Microphone with Earpiece Jack, Black

I am a Ham radio operator and bought this speaker mic to replace the Boafeng speaker mic I had for my Baofeng UV5R. I utilized this for communications between 2 vehicles in our vacation. The sound quality is excellent on both transmit and receive. It is a heavy duty speaker mic and of high quality as advertised. Of course it also works with Kenwood handheld radios. I highly recommend this over the much cheaper Baofeng mic. It costs a lot more, but does not have garbled transmit like the Baofeng mic. You definitely get what you pay for with this speaker mic!

use baofengs for work. ive been thru every biscuit some only last one day. i recieved a genuine kenwood from the seller. i also have the kenwood kmc-21 which is also nice for the price but this one is a step up in durability, quality, and sound. hopefully last one ill have to buy.

Excellent speaker mic for probably any handheld transceiver that uses the Kenwood 2-pin connector. I bought this for a TYT MD-390, and it worked really well. It feels great in the hand, and the PTT button has a nice predictable click instead of being spongy like some cheaply-made speaker mics. Thus, if you need a heavier-duty speaker mic with good volume and good sound quality in both directions, then this is a good choice. Important: The one I purchased (shipped from and sold by Amazon) was genuine. Like any other brand-name accessory, there are counterfeits of these floating around from various sources, so exercise caution.

At this sale price , a Kenwood THD-75 deserves nothing less . I just had an extended QSO running external power using this KMC-45D . Five STARS , I have had several of the budget mics , from middle price to great price . Some of those for the money performed surprisingly well . However , the Kenwood KMC-45D is , well it is a Kenwood product , in ALL aspects it decimates the competition. Notes : if you watched a certain “speaker mic “ review on a certain tube . That review is incorrect , either the 15 dollar radio is the reason or the Kenwood is , hmm , I think its the 15 dollar radio . I have used that reviews top pic on this radio and the Kenwood KMC-45D is in another league . If you are budget driven , just know , FOUR (4) speaker mics later , you spent more than what a proper speaker mic costs. Zero shade on the budget mics , or the middie mics . If you need several mics it makes sense , if not , then only this makes sense .

I got one for my Anytone D878UV and a Baogeng UV82. On analog these both work great and have good speaker volume. However, on DMR the sound is still softer than I would like. Not sure what if anything can be done to increase the volume when on DMR as even at full volume it is still hard to hear in the car. Microphone reports are good.

I drive a forklift and wear the radio mic behind my back and over my right shoulder. Part of my route is through the pressroom, extremely loud! Even with this mic I still don't need to max out the volume to hear it clearly. The connection to the radio is solid and stays put. I jump on and off the forklift a bunch of times throughout the shift, walk around sometimes and climb over obstacles. The clip behind the mic itself stays very well put to my shirt. I purchased 2 of these with my own money, no regrets! and I don't think you will either to be honest. This is my first time purchasing this or any mic for that matter, so I cannot compare anything. I'm the only one who uses these mics so I'm sure they'll last me awhile.

KMC fake

This speaker mic is really well made and matches up with my TH-D74 perfectly. Sound quality is about the same as the internal speaker. gets louder than the internal speaker IMO. Looks great, has a great PTT button with a positive click which I like, and I have gotten good sound reports from local hams on the repeaters in my area. I would buy this again.

Definitely a quality product that I'm happy with. Update 2025. Have not been using it often but the item suffered a crack and chipped off. Cannot remember how it happened so take care of yours. It may not be as strong as it looks.

Great mic.Work super nice on both DMR and analoge.Super crisp and clear voice ,well built.This is not a fake it is a real Kenwood at least the one i got. It sound way bether than some of thoses cheap ones .Even a UV-5R sound good with this kmc-45d.

Sound nice and clear even next to a loud machine. Worth the extra money
