well made, sturdy
This thing is a must have for doing electronics, and perhaps other stuff. The good thing is that the flexible arms can be removed and attached to any other iron surface as a third and forth hand.

Massive improvement on cheap helping hands tools but could be even better
Like most people I've got totally fed up with the traditional helping hand tools with a cast iron base, two crocodile clips and a magnifier. These seem to sell for as little and £5 now and get shoddier and shoddier with each drop in price. This stood out as a new idea and I was pleased to support the small company putting them onto the market. It has the feel of a "cottage industry" product but there is no doubting that it is sturdily made. The base is heavy, and the magnets that hold the arms onto the base are strong. I have not had any issues with small parts causing the unit to topple, nor with the pressure of a soldering iron causing the base to move out of position. There are a few of small issues which I hope Quadhands will be able to improve upon in the future though:1. The arms have a degree of "spring" to them which makes it hard to align two parts and hold them in place. This is a bit tricky for some soldering jobs that I was hoping to do hands-free, unfortunately you do still need a pair of pliers to hold wires in place. If the arms could be more inert, that would be fantastic.2. The arms don't have a full 180 degree movement, so you can never get them to point vertically down, which is also a bit of a nuisance for some jobs. It would be nice to have an extra axis of freedom built into the crocodile clips so you have more control on the angle they are pointing.3. The plastic tubing to protect the clips doesn't feel like a very refined solution, yes it does work but it greatly decreases the opening of the jaws. The option of non-metallic clips would be an improvement. They also end up a "little" bit expensive in the UK, not really Quadhands' fault, but there are under $30 in the States and by the time they get here (I bought from a UK reseller) they are closer to £40.
