You need 2-4 depending on how dry your firewood is. I use Trazom fire starters now instead they light faster and get the fire going

Q: Are the packets plastic? They look like it, I worry about burning plastic.

They appear to be.Not sure of composition,though.Very quick, hot burning starters.I use them for both fire and charcoal starters.

Q: Anyone every use a Ferro Rod to light them? Is it possible?

Farro rod would not work with these.. Yes I have used these but I got a different type cause these don’t ignite quickly and I have to use a few at a time. Instead I found TRAZOM fire starters and I usually only use one maybe 2 and they light immediately. They look like mini haystacks. They work fast!! Even on damp logs. So a Farro rod definitely works with the Trazom fire starters. Cause we just tested it out.. 🙌🏽
