Is this for 4B kinky hair?

I have “O” patterned coils in every diameter. My son has every curl and coil pattern from type 2b to type 4c. His hair is very silky textured, so certain products that don’t work on my non-silky textured 4a coils work just fine defining his much silkier 4c coils for example. Products that work on the silkier 3c & 4c coils that are normal porosity in the back of my head, don’t work on the (not silky at all) high porosity 3c & 4a coils in the top of my head. I have to use keratin fortifying products in addition to ones that focus on moisture retention regardless of my curl pattern, as the pattern itself doesn’t determine if a product will work. Texture, porosity, and overall hair health certainly can. I used Cake together with Melanin Hair Care leave-in on wash-day and my twist out came out very defined with a hold that doesn’t compromise my hair’s natural softness. Admittedly, the product worked *much* better on the 4c & 3c coils that are more silky than the rest of my hair. It provided softly firm hold, good definition, and reactivates when wet. Note: it does nothing to prevent shrinkage for 45-50% shrinkage prone hair. If you have silkier textured hair that is less than 45% shrinkage prone, this product may work regardless of your curl pattern.

Does this work on semi wavy frizzy hair? Does it weigh hair down?

It doesn't way my hair down. I have curly/wavy frizzy hair and it seems to hold pretty well. You do have to reapply some for frizzy spots that didn't get covered. Then again, I also wash my hair the night before and sleep with it wet/product in. I don't have time in the AM. Best thing I'd do if I could, would be to apply on wet hair and let it air dry. That's always the best answer for curly/wavy hair with almost any curling hair product.
