This book covers diesel engine theory, technology, operation and maintenance for candidates for the Department of Transport's Certificates of Competency in Marine Engineering, Class One and Class Two. The book has been updated throughout to include new engine types and operating systems that are currently in active development or recently introduced. Review: Good intro - this book is a good introduction to marine diesel engines even though its a old edition, it good. I would recommend it to persons as a introduction to marine diesel engines Review: Four Stars - excellent resource for studies

I was looking for something on truck, construction engines, so marine engines are fun but not so relevant.

good series
I'd teach level two students how to use a diesel engine. The written copy is easy to carry, concise to borrow the terminology of a previous reviewer and succinct, with useful diagrams helpful descriptions. I would say probably not an experts manual but given that I was teaching University students, it proved invaluable in confirming my own knowledge of DE, you know for a rainy, windy Tuesday night by the M25 with a car broken down... Thanks
